On Saturday, August 8, 2026, Queen Margrethe visited a market in Cahors, near Château de Cayx, where she is currently enjoying her summer holiday. Queen Margrethe had been spending her summer holiday with Princess Benedikte at Gråsten Palace in Southern Jutland. She left the palace on Wednesday and travelled to the south of France.
It's obvious Queen Margrethe is on her annual holiday in France. Her pink top is a wonderful color for her and is perfect summer look styled with her white skirt. Love how she's queued up with the other shoppers in the 2nd photo.

Queen Margrethe looks pretty frail in these pictures, but I admire her for still getting out and am glad to hear she has been able to spend time with her sister. Her pink top is a lovely color on her.

ReplyDeleteJosée it’s very normal as we age. It is likely due to age and sarcopenia (muscle loss). .
DeleteShe is really very frail. Sometimes old people simply cannot gain weight any more, which is good for their old bones, but the loss of muscle mass makes moving more difficult. She does not give herself up, which is good, she can get any help she needs.
DeleteWhat an idea to go to France in August and especially with the heat there is for the moment. The doctors are advising old people to stay in the shadow of the house and if possible in a room with airco. These temperatures are not good for older fragile people. In my country there is a waiting list for the family of deceased people to find a funeral enterprise which has place for another victim of the heat.

DeleteI expected these reactions. I know she is going there every year on vacation. I know the history of Queen Margrethe. I know she has a family chateau in France, but that doesn't change the fact that the heat is still there and that she is in the sun on the market. August was already hot in France in the past and this year it is even worse like in the rest of the countries of the South of Europe. She does what she wants but the chateau will not go away and will still be there in September and October when, as I hope it will be cooler than now.
@Anon 12:46: Look at the first photo please. Do you see the faint reflection of the sun on her forehead? The sun is not yet high, it is early in the morning. We have gruesome and ongoing heat in Vienna, but going out early in the morning is very refreshing. I am sure she (and her helper and assistants) know exactly what they are doing - but you seem to want to know better ...

I do not want to know better, I only talk about what the authorities are recommending for old fragil people and for babies. We had never a Spring + a Summer with this high amount of heat waves and it doesn't rain. People from Australia know what it is but for European people, especially for those living along the mediterranean like Spain, Italy, France, Greece, Portugal it is much more warmer than the past years. We cannot say we were not told that this could happen. The last years the scientists who are working for the meteorological services in the countries of south and even mid-western Europe have announced this would happen due to the climate change. The leaves of the trees in my street and garden are so dry already that they fall on the ground completely dried out and we are still in the Summer. It doesn't rain anymore. There are many streams everywhere without or with only a little quantity of water. There are bombs and submarines from WW2 which are becoming visible now. These situations never existed before and are only due to the changing climate. A couple of weeks ago there was a funeral in my family. The nearest relatives had to wait a fortnight before they could find an funeral enterprise which could do the necessary preparations to organise a ceremony for the deceased person, just because too many (old) people died in a short period and they were all victims of the hot weather.
Sorry to be off topic but in the 2nd photo, is the bodyguard carrying a small basket or is it someone else behind him ? Pretty funny

Bodyguards need to have their hands free as much as possible.
Carrying big weights could hinder their movements in case of an impending danger.

I think we should respect the privacy of the royal family members and not judge their outfits when they are on vacation or at some private event.
ReplyDeleteIf they are at an official event, if they represent the royal family or the state or the nation - then yes, representation is part of their job and we have the right to evaluate how they handle this task, with what charm and so on. Therefore, it is completely okay to comment - for example - on the outfit of Princess Benedikte (who presents The Grants of Nielsen Fondantion on previous page).
But in private, they should have the right to wear anything and without fear of being judged. It is different if they themselves publish private photos, but I don't think that Queen Margrethe called a photographer to take pictures of her shopping at the market.
Of course, then there are those who loudly cry out for privacy but actually enjoy the spotlight (like a certain relative of the British royal family), but I think that's not the case with Margharete. She deserves peace from photographers and the public alike.

I cannot stop thinking at King Baudouin who had a heart condition and still went to Spain for his yearly vacation, also every year in the same period. The south of Spain was very hot too in that period. He came back to Belgium in a coffin.

Je crois que je n'oserais plus sortir pour faire des courses dans des températures de 41 degrés. Je comprends que vous autres sortent le plus tôt possible le matin pour faire vos courses et d'être de retour à la maison le plus vite possible.

My suggestion: we can talk about the outfits that members of the royal family wear at official events - and believe me, there are plenty of them: state events, charity events, sports and cultural events... From private life - those photos that they themselves provide to the media or on social networks.

ReplyDeleteYou forget that there are no official events for the moment. Everybody is on holiday also the royals. We will have to wait until the 1st September to have state visits, charity events, sports events.....
If members of the royal families appear on blogs like this one during their holidays, I think we can write about their outfits..It is not up to us to find out who put the photo's on the social media and we are not supposed to know who asked who to make photos of them.
I suggest that blogs like this one are closed during July and August to begin with the Summer holidays of 2027. No more boring answers and subjects. No comments any more on the clothes royals wore during their holidays. No more people who are talking about the international situations, etc....
Or one can ask the royals to do like King Willem Alexander and Queen Maxima. Do you see photo's of them on this blog. No, maybe you will see a couple of pictures taken during their holidays in Greece by the end of this month or in September when the holidays are over and all the royals start working again.
