On August 16, 2026, Princess Kako of Japan attended the opening ceremony of the 43rd National High School Students’ Sign Language Speech Contest at Yurakucho Asahi Hall in Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo. In her opening remarks, Princess Kako expressed her sympathy for those affected by the earthquake in Kumamoto and the torrential rains in Chiba.
Princess Kako then addressed the high school students entirely in sign language, saying, “I congratulate you on the results of all your hard work so far.” During the contest, high school students gave presentations in sign language about their personal experiences and other topics. For the occasion, the Princess wore a blue chiffon dress by Kay Me.

ردحذفSuch a very lovely Princess... down to earth ... Love her smyling!!! She is doing a great job!!!
ردحذفthis dress is - well, a dress, I don't really like it, especially not the ruffing at the neckline. But why I comment is the self belt. I am a self belt hater, but usually because these soft fabric belts tend to change into an unattractive string on the waist. But not this one. I don't know if Kako has a secret magic going on, keeping the belt disciplined, or if there is some stronger piece of fabric in that belt, but it works, and the little bow is tidy and works as designed as well. Not that I like the dress and/or this type of belt more - but it looks at least all right on this pretty princess.
