Whatever anyone’s wider issues with the Yorks, it is always lovely to welcome a healthy baby. I wish the family well. LRB

  2. Hm... Wonder why the princess and her husband didn't introduce the baby right out on the steps? Like many demanded the duchess and the prince should do.
    Cute baby and outfit.

Princess Eugenie has never been classified it’s a ‘ working royal’ However H & M were at the time of Archie’s birth. Hence the expectation of a photo call

Princess Eugenie gave birth in Portugal; she’s not in direct line to the throne, hence no photographs on the “step”.

She has never been a working royal.
The duke should have briefed his duchess better of protocol prior to marriage.

NN, it’s not a worthy comparison. Nobody “demanded” that Meghan present the baby, but many were miffed at the unnecessary lying and misleading regarding the birth timing, and disappointed after the fact that they hadn’t got the traditional immediate father’s announcement and baby presentation. It seemed sneaky and that does not go down well.

I appreciate the baby is wearing something to keep warm, but in light of her absolute delicious gorgeousness, I couldn’t care less whether she were in a hand me down el cheapo or a high end Marie Chantal. Her cuteness overwhelms all other factors! Congrats to the parents on welcoming a gorgeous new life.

Thank you 20:33. So many commenters criticise other commenters for having opinions (!) and it warms my heart to read your encouragement.

  6. La grenouillère est facilement reconnaissable mais heureusement que les lignes sous l'article précisent que la photo montre la première apparition publique du troisième enfant de la princesse Eugénie à savoir sa fille !

She couldn't introduce the baby on the steps. She gave birth in Portugual(sorry wrong spelling?).where she now lives coming to England when neccessary

It is not because she gave birth in Portugal that she could introduce the baby on the steps. She is not a working royal and is part of the extended royal family now (since the king is her uncle not her father), and her baby is a "Brooksbank" not a "Windsor".

Yes, since newborns tend to look very similar to one another, I really don’t think showing the child’s face at this point would endanger her πŸ™„. But I guess the back-of-the-head photo is now deemed compulsory at a certain level of perceived celebrity…

Newborns are similar - and their appearance changes so dramatically anyway, that photos let's say: in the first year would not give anyone the chance to recognize the child later. But, I am fine respecting the child's privacy anyway, best way to do this: No photos at all. If someone wants to look at sweet babies of other people, the world is full of them.

I respect the parents’ choice. But also think this photo was chosen because it shows the cuteness of the outfit’s angel wings. I too would never choose to show my children’s faces if we were famous. Once you publish to the internet it’s there forever, and can be manipulated. The children themselves can choose later to publish their own photos.

Thanks 10:37. I agree with your comment.
The internet has given us extra ways to communicate, but it brings with it, unfortunately,, a dark side also.

Great news. Congratulations to the family. Wonder what her name will be. Maybe Isabella a different version of Elisabeth. She'll have 2 big brothers to be her protectors. Welcome to the world little angel.
