Princess Aiko of Japan is making a two-day visit to Mie Prefecture to take part in the Ise Jingu Geku Okihiki Festival, a sacred public ritual held once every 20 years. On August 1, 2026, Princess Aiko observed the work of traditional Japanese carpenters preparing for the Shikinen Sengu firsthand. The Okihiki Festival is a ritual in which sacred timber is transported into the shrine precincts in the same manner as in ancient times.
On August 2, Princess Aiko is scheduled to visit Ise Jingu and take part in the Okihiki Festival, during which timber to be used for the shrine's reconstruction is transported. Ise Jingū is a Shinto shrine dedicated to the sun goddess Amaterasu Ōmikami.

What a lovely dress, and I love her smile. She is growing into this greater exposure role so well.

A lovely colour, I think a cute pair of shoes would look nice, however this is the signature look.
ReplyDeleteWhy does this look like a hand-me-down from my mom?
ReplyDeleteAiko adds such personal warmth to her commitments with her cheerful and bright smile. I like the color and sleeves of the dress but it looks one size too big. Aiko’s charm overcomes the styling shortcomings. MR
ReplyDeleteこの時と同じワンピースですね

What a friendly lovely young lady!
ReplyDeleteThe only features I like about this dress are: the thoughtful neckline (not too high) and the colour. The cut or style is hovering in a middle, undecided realm between slim and wide/oversitzed. It gives me the impression that they do not want to make a slim style really appear slim or tight at any body part and the result is somehow ... well, undecided. The sleeve cutouts are really nice, but as the sleeve itself is, again, rather wide, it makes the hole upper part of the dress look wider than it is or should be - especially because it is a short sleeve, always prone to look awkward if too short, too long, too wide ...
ReplyDeleteHmmm 7:20 some good analysis there and I enjoyed reading it. I think most certainly a looser dress is much cooler in the stickiness of a Japanese summer. For me this would be the main reason she has a lovely dress style that seems to be cut a bit loose. I think it’s deliberate.
Delete@12:03: If you look at the page the Japanese commenter gave us, you'll see how it looked when she wore it earlier. I might be mistaken, but there, it does not seem to be loose, I might be mistaken, but maybe she lost a bit of weight. On the other hand, they could change the fit easily ... but anyway, I don't really think they make the dresses looser because of summer. The empress always has a perfect fit, summer and winter.

Oh my goodness! While the dress looks lovely, the shape and fit is not for a young woman. Yes, it screams hand me down. She looks dowdy in this. A pretty young woman should not have to dress like this…some would call it modest I call this a miss!
ReplyDeleteVery cute cream-colored dress with matching shoes; Aiko looks adorable ♥️
ReplyDeleteShe is a 24 year old woman
DeleteI want to like this dress and I do but not for Aiko. It looks like it would be nice and cool to wear as there is lots of room in the design. I like the shade of yellow. My first thought was it is too big for her, however it is keeping with the signature look for official duties.
ReplyDeleteShe looks adorable! She should be in line to be the Empress. Seems like a lovely intelligent young woman.
