Prince Gabriel of Belgium celebrated his 23rd birthday yesterday. To mark the occasion, the Belgian Royal Palace shared photos of the Prince in full climbing gear as he made his way among the glaciers and peaks of the Mont Blanc massif. The photos were taken during a mountaineering course in the Mont Blanc mountains in France this summer.
One of the photos was taken in front of the Refuge Albert Ier, named after Prince Gabriel’s great-great-grandfather, King Albert I of Belgium. The refuge sits at an altitude of around 2,700 metres above the Glacier du Tour and remains an important base for mountaineering in the Mont Blanc massif.
King Albert I was known for his love of mountaineering and spent years climbing in the Alps. He died in a mountaineering accident on February 17, 1934, while climbing alone on the Roche du Vieux Bon Dieu at Marche-les-Dames, near Namur, Belgium.

adventure prince! happy birthday
ردحذفUn jeune homme à qui je souhaite un bon et heureux anniversaire !
ردحذفWonderful pictures, I adore mountains and I'm glade prince Gabriel loves them too.
ردحذفHe isn't afraid of anything. Last winter he did a survival camp with the Royal Military Academy in the desert of Morocco. Now this. I am sure Queen Mathilde was nervous and not at ease. On picture N°3 one can see the Refuge Albert Ier in the left upper corner.
ردحذفI hope he’s appropriately afraid! Otherwise glaciers are very dangerous.
حذفGood place to start into mountaineering . They renovated the Albert Ière hut a few years back, thank goodness, as the day use squat toilet was absolutely not fit for a prince!
ردحذفWhen he was spending time in the French Army during his Military training he went into the hell of French Guyana. I think he saw and had to do things there which is absolutely not fit for a prince or anybody else.
حذفNot much fashion to discuss here but, happy birthday.
