On August 28, 2026, King Harald’s body was moved from the chapel at Rikshospitalet to the Royal Palace in Oslo. King Haakon, Queen Mette-Marit, Crown Princess Ingrid Alexandra, Queen Sonja, Prince Sverre Magnus and Princess Märtha Louise accompanied King Harald’s coffin from Rikshospitalet to the Royal Palace.
King Harald’s coffin completed its journey when it arrived at the Royal Palace via Parkveien. Along the entire route to the Palace, many people had gathered to bid farewell to King Harald. The hearse was received by the King’s Guard. King Harald’s coffin was then carried by the adjutants into the Red Salon inside the Palace.

God bless you Sir.
ReplyDeleteYou know,@ Ava, a quotation from Shakespeare has suddenly crossed my mind:
Delete"Uneasy lies the head that wears a crown".
May God give King Haakon and all of the Norwegian Royal Family the strength to face whatever lies ahead of them.
DeleteMay King Harald rest in peace. It's going to be a hard few weeks for the family, I hope they have the time to mourn.
ReplyDeleteI love the tenderness shown between Haakon and Mette-Marit: the reaching hands in the fourth photo. They have been through a lot together this past year.
I entirely agree with your beautiful comment on all points.
DeleteThank you.
I am deeply moved and impressed by the
ReplyDelete2nd pic.
A man standing in the rain in front of the Royal Palace gates, loneliness, profoumd sorrow and Duty being his only companions.
The cortege behind him looks so near and yet so far away.
I assume it is King Haakon, trying to carry out a step of the protocol while battling his own deep grief.
The man infront is the Lord Chamberlain of Norway Mr. Olav Heian-Engdal. A stunning photo. Following his boss home for the last time.

DeleteOh, thank you for the claryfication.
I think that also the Palace staff and the late King's most immediate entourage must be deeply affected by the demise of their Boss.
My heartfelt condolences to them,too.
A stunning pic indeed, one of a remarkable visual and emotional impact.

Stop dominating this blog, it is egoistic and discourages others from

ReplyDeleteEs significatiu el gest del rei Haakon, que allarga el braç per donar- li la mà a la seva dona. En la següent foto, entenc que están agafats de la mà. Amb això, ja està tot dit, en una parella que porta tant de etemps junta.
