On August 4, 2026, King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain, accompanied by Crown Princess Leonor, Infanta Sofía, and Queen Sofía, hosted the traditional summer reception at Marivent Palace in Palma de Mallorca for representatives of various sectors and institutions of Balearic society. The reception was attended by nearly 600 guests.
For the summer reception, Queen Letizia wore a white midi-length dress by designer Sybilla, who has lived in Mallorca for many years. Crown Princess Leonor wore a multicolored pleated top and matching pleated skirt by Thinking Mu. Infanta Sofía wore a multicolored printed viscose midi dress by Momoni.

ReplyDeleteMy first thought when I saw these photos - and I might be alone in this thought - is that I love CP Leonor's hair! To me, this styled, wild, frizzy look with hi-lites is pure summer, and she looks beautiful. I like her 2 piece colourful outfit as well but the price of each piece (on another site) boggles me. I also like the Infanta's colourful dress, though the fit on her is different to that on the model.
ReplyDeleteLetizia's dress is is also beautiful. The fine pleats all over the fabric and the simple stylish open cut of the dress, together with the pure white colour speaks of cool summer comfort.
Queen Sofia looks elegant, and her gown adds to the colourful array of clothing in a most pleasing way.

DeleteOh no Anon 9:13 you are not alone. Leonor’s hair is a wonder to behold. I have not understood the long running trend of using a blow dryer or straightener to iron out natural curls. Curls and frizzy hair are wonderful and give more emphasis of the marvellous natural differences in human looks.

Anon 9:13 both of the princesses’ dresses are high street fashion. They are not particularly pricy. For example Leonor’s top is around EUR130 which is a very mainstream price.

On another fashion site (RFP), they had listed the top and skirt for 2 individual prices that totalled US 2,400! I was shocked as the outfit didn't look to be worth that much money. I just went back to that site to check to advise here and I see that they have now changed the prices on their article for a total of US 410 which seems more fair value. Thank you for informing me correctly.

ReplyDeletePrincess Leonor’s 2 piece outfit is simple lovely. I love the colours, and the tie dye look. What a great and becoming outfit. The queen’s white dress is a nice look , almost like a shirt dress…very serviceable. I love the diagonal sheer? stripes as they elevate the look. The white also shows off her tan as well. The infanta’s dress while pretty in colour is not very flattering on her nor on the model shown. The upper part of the dress is shapeless and makes her look huge. Definitely a miss. Former Queen Sophia looks good in her maxi dress.

DeleteLeonor and Sofia’s outfits are not my favorite due to their length and somewhat psychedelic-looking colors and patterns. Also not a huge fan of Leonor’s hairstyle or their center hair parts (which I know is on trend for teens and young women, is not flattering on almost anyone, in my opinion). Their makeup looks nice and it is sweet to see them walking with their grandmother.

Leonor's hair looks wild (it gives some Shakira vibes). It's the first thing that caught my attention and I like it. Looking at Leonor's new hairdo, I can't help thinking that she always has versatile hairstyles (updos, plaits, ponytails, differently styled loose hair), while Sofia always has one and the same hairdo with some minor variations (slightly curled or some locks pulled back).

DeleteBoth princesses are looking summery and well dressed. CP Leonor's hair is beautiful. They both are wearing the same sandals, which are looking a bit too wide to me. Queen Sofia's dress is a no for me. It looks more like a summer bathrobe than a dress. She is wearing a bit too much necklaces which are not going well together or with the dress.. Queen Letizia is wearing a simple white dress and King Felipe is wearing one of his blue vacation shirts. They all are looking relaxed and in vacation style.

Letizia stands in sharp contrast to the other ladies. Her simple off white dress is a very classic and elegant outfit while the rest chose some bold and vibrant prints. I think I prefer Letizia's choice this time around. I find the prints a bit overwhelming but I like the variety that they displayed which is certainly interesting.

DeleteWhere I live, no eye-makeup, indeed no makeup is the norm. Not a new fashion for us! Makeup is for special occasions or to feel a bit fancy for almost everyone where I live. Saves a lot of chemical production and skin absorption now I think about it?!

I cannot imagine eyelid colour and mascara made of natural ingredients. But, so called "natural" makeup can cause allergies nontheless. And "vegan" only means they don't rub it into the eyes/onto the shaved skin of poor animals too see if they develop a rash ... I can only say after a life-long love and usage of eye makeup: I had to stop because my eyes and eyelids react now - they simply say "enough is enough". Nothing goes. This is how I discovered lipliner (better/more durable than lipstick), to have at least some makeup in my face ...

DeleteOf course some people who are very allergic can have reactions on vegan products too.
Having a sensible skin myself, I started to use only cosmetics which are sold in pharmacy. My dermatologist recommended this because these products are controlled more than those you find in the beauty shops. There are several brands which are sold only in pharmacy. It is also very important not to mix several brands. If you have still allergic reactions it is much easier to find out from which products than when you mix several brands all the time. Since I follow the advice of the dermatologist my skin is in better condition. Also concerning the use of which day creams and serums and most important cleaning your eyes and face before and after using make-up. Also on the days you don't use make-up, always clean your face and eyes with the products which are recommended by the pharmacists or doctors.
Whether substances used in makeup come from plants or labs, they are all chemical! And applying products which are made to stay on top of the skin for periods of time is subjecting the skin to extra chemical interactions. “Natural” doesn’t mean safe. “Vegan” doesn’t mean good for the skin. Be careful how you interpret the marketing messages from a multi billion dollar industry.

We derive chemicals from plants or we create them from other chemicals, but they are all chemical, and makeup is certainly not natural (despite the marketing campaigns!). A lot of it won’t injure most people, but it’s worthwhile considering just how the micro doses of these chemicals - some of which will be toxic to you in large amounts - are ingested (lipsticks) or absorbed and will accumulate over time in your body. This particularly applies to cultures in which women are accustomed to ful face make up every day from when they are teenagers. That’s a LOT of exposure.

DeleteI have to be well groomed and look impeccabile almost on a daily basis so full face makeup is a do I cannot overlook.
I don't t reckon it to fair to list some vegan brands that have become a go to for me but I can assure they exist (90% vegan and cruelty free certified products).
Moreover, European certification standards are incredibly severe as far as vegan body, hair and face products are concernend.
You can see and touch their different texture, which Is more watery but with the same or an even better performance outcome than traditional makeup items.
Same goes for hair treatments (the ayurvedic ones top my list).

QL - oh how I miss her stiletto pumps era. No rocked up in a pair of stilettos quite like her. But,she can no longer wear them, so I must find the same appreciation of her lower comfortable heels.
QS - Her first Summer without her beloved sister Irene. But she’s surrounded by her family and maybe extended family, to help fill the loss.

I so much prefer how a leg and a human looks with shoes in proportion to their bodies and find stilettos to be very strange for proportions. I’m so glad she made the switch and I think her daughters are aware of how much she suffered and going the healthier route too.

Its a beautiful dress, I love the swish and movement of the dress, very feminine, this dress gives her a really nice shape. I like the style and design of this dress, the length is good, the sleeves and neckline look attractive.

DeleteWe'd better get used to curly hair again. It is the latest fashion for young girls (and young ladies). Some (young) hair stylists in my town are starting new hair salons with a big publicity and pictures in their windows of hair styles with little curls It remembers me the Afro hairstyle I used to follow (for a short time) in the 80s. I just was looking for a new hair dresser nearer by the place where I live, but I am afraid they will not be happy when I ask them "no curls for me, please". I think I'll have to stick with my former hairdresser whose salon is far away from my house.

He and the other leaders continue to make foolish decisions regarding the "immigrants" that are taking over many European countries. I am sure the Spaniards in Ceuta would love to be on Mallorca instead.

When the countries are full with immigrants there will be not enough place for the original habitants. The original habitants of Europe have one, two or maximal three children. The immigrants have a lot more children. They continue their way of living in another country than their own and they won't adapt to the laws and habits of their new country. Result more criminality. There are also the immigrants which are born in their new country who went to school there and who work.
DeleteBut there are also those who do not work but receive an allowance of the country in which they live. Their wives don't work because they have too many children, so automatically the mothers stay at home with an allowance for the children. Which country can continue to give money and more money for these people. Now more than ever with all the problems caused by a few leaders who wish to change everything according their rules. When a European country cannot buy the weapons they need in case of a big conflict simply because there is not enough money anymore. Only the big European countries can still build the defense forces they need to defend their country in case of a war.

Delete18:29 yes the decisions that countries need to make can be very difficult. It does not automatically invalidate a person though to have to make some tough calls. When you see for instance how high unemployment is, and how dangerously low water supplies are, you can decide you must first look after your own people before being ready to accept new residents. There are no easy answers but each country has the right to make their own choices and we cannot say that looking after their own people first is wrong.

DeleteYou probably heard there is a new president in Hungary Mr. Peter Magyar, I think his name is. The former president of Hungary never allowed immigrants in his country, although Hungary was already a member of the European union. He caused much difficulties and rarely agreed with the decisions of the European union. With the new president I don't know what the decisions are about immigration into Hungary. I didn't continue to follow his politics.
I just find it unfair that some countries wish to be member of the European union but at the same time want to impose their own decisions. It is a big problem for the future : the people of Africa cannot live there anymore because of the climate change, the people of Southern Europe will not be able to continue to live in temperatures like we have this summer. Agriculture will not be possible anymore. People will die because there will be not enough food for every one. Little countries in Europe are already full of black people and people from the North of Africa. In the North of Europe there are still countries where there are less immigrants because these countries are still colder than the other European countries. Once the end of august f. ex. people of Norway are preparing for the winter. People are buying all the goods they need because due to the long distance they have to ride, to arrive at a town where they can buy everything they need to have enough food and clothes, etc...to pass the winter season. The younger generations of Western Europe will have to move up north to make place for the southern Europeans and the immigrants of Africa. They could also go to China where there is still a lot of open space to live and to do agriculture.....The new world is full of possibilities if only the leaders would be prepared to collaborate peacefully.....
