On August 6, 2026, King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and Queen Jetsun Pema, accompanied by members of the Royal Family, visited the Royal Textile Academy (RTA) in Thimphu to view a special exhibition dedicated to this year's celebration of the 70th Birth Anniversary of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo.

King Jigme Khesar Namgyel and Queen Jetsun Pema visited the Royal Textile Academy in Thimphu

The exhibition, titled The Visionary Monarch: A Tribute to the Fourth King's Enduring Legacy, was opened by Prince Jigme Namgyel Wangchuck on June 2, 2026. It was curated by the RTA in collaboration with the Museum Division under the Department of Culture and Dzongkha Development. The Royal Family also viewed the Thagzo: Textile Weaves of Bhutan exhibition, which is being displayed concurrently at the RTA.

    All the ladies look elegant in their coloured silks. And the males with their wide white cuffs/sleeves contrast well with their darker outfits
