On July 25, 2026, Queen Máxima officially opened WorldPride 2026 at Vondelpark in Amsterdam. WorldPride is an international event that draws worldwide attention to human rights. Amsterdam is hosting WorldPride 2026 for the first time, with the event taking place from July 25 to August 8. Queen Máxima also visited Sport Pride and Youth Pride.
The programme includes a Pride Walk from Dam Square to Vondelpark, a boat parade on the canals, the UNITY Concert at Museumplein, and the Human Rights Conference at Nieuwmarkt. Culture, human rights, connection, visibility, and celebration are at the heart of the programme. The highlight is the famous Canal Parade, where substance and entertainment come together into a vibrant spectacle.

I like her dress, hair and shoes. She looks great. But that hat was unnecessary for the occasion.
ReplyDeleteMaxima carries on the tradition of hats worn for openings. I like this tradition very much and glad she keeps it. Her mother in law wore hats for most appearances and Maxima has kept the tradition going in this way. I think it’s very important. Besides which, this is a fabulous hat and takes a simple outfit and makes it marvellous.
DeleteAgree
DeleteThe hat was very necessary for the ocassion! Infact this hat was made for Pride day, the only time it fits in well 😅
DeleteHer hat couldn't be big enough for this festive and important occasion. The fact that she opened the World Pride 2026 meant the world to the LHBTQ community, in The Netherlands and in the whole world. The Queen of The Netherlands being openly supportive for gay rights is extremely important. Look what happened in Berlin yesterday. The huge occasion in the Vondelpark in Amsterdam was very festive and she dressed accordingly. This was so well done by Queen Maxima. Proud to be Dutch!
DeleteI agree with Lisa 06:11 Well said!
Delete- Anon 9:13
Lisa - I fully agree with your comments so thank you for adding your thoughts to the conversation. I’m not Dutch but Amsterdam is a sister city so I’m happy to lend my support by connection.
DeleteLisa , thank you for your meaningful and well articulated post.
DeleteAgree!
@21:12, "unnecessary"? If that hat was good enough for Her Late Majesty (who would probably never have said "unnecessary" for the hat of a fellow queen and anyway, she was herself a good friend of big hats with big flowers): https://x.com/RickEversRoyal/status/2081023421069025752/photo/1 , then it will be good enough for me, even if you deem it unnecessary :-)
ReplyDeleteWow, it's seems so long ago that Maxima last wore this ensemble -- 2019 at Royal Ascot. I still love the entire look; and the hat is divine.
ReplyDeleteAs to the hat's appropriateness, there are a number people in the photos dressed dramatically, so the look doesn't seem so out of place. In fact I think the feathers add a fun touch which suits the festive atmosphere of the event. Lyra
Ben justement non, très apprécié pour l'occasion
ReplyDeleteLooks like a bird blew up on her head
ReplyDeleteHow can you wear something like that on the head?!
ReplyDeleteJust look - this is how it is done!
DeleteWell dear 23:35, you lift it up off its stand, position it on your head, then affix it either with pins or a head band. Simple, straightforward. Thank you for your encouraging question.
Delete😃
Delete@07: 45 thank you for explanation DEAR!
DeleteWhy is wearing a tree on her head
ReplyDeleteWhy is your grammar poor?
DeleteThese are all deep questions.
You are too regressive to understand modernity
DeleteAnonymous 07:45, you are simply arrogant. On this blog comment a lot of people whose mothertongue is not english. Who are you to tell them they aren't allowed to comment.
DeleteGood comment Coralie !
DeleteWhat? Is that hat?? I don't understand it.
ReplyDeleteGo back and take a look at your grammar, then another look at the beautifully constructed, deliberately dramatic yet pretty hat. I think you’ll work it out.
Delete@00:06, First, write in a way others can understand (not your poor language, but your motivation to write). Second, look up "hat" in Wikipedia, than look up "quirky". Third, look up what Máx is doing there. Fourth, think again and don't post things that can turn out embarassing for you.
DeleteIt seems as though you have a lot to learn not only about grammar and fashion.
DeleteAnonymous 12:38, why are you so aggressive? What is wrong with you?
Delete00:06 Don't embarass yourself
DeleteAsk a silly question, get a silly answer. There’s no arrogance in the comment of 7:46, but rather a pushback on a rude comment by 00:06.
DeleteFrom 00:06; after reviewing everyone's feedback, I have decided to stop reading and commenting on this blog. The rudeness is unacceptable. i was asking a question about the hat. These blog comments are not worth my time.
Delete02:15 you will come back with your comments in French.Hopefully you will get yourself a good translation tool!
Delete18:18 you nailed It!
DeleteNice dress also great smile..css
ReplyDeleteIl n’y a que Maxima pour porter un tel chapeau qui d’ailleurs lui va à merveille. J’aime aussi sa robe. Josée.
ReplyDeleteIts lovely to see a rewear of this very flattering dress, love the color of her accessories, shoes and clutch. Her earrings are beautiful, gorgeous pair of jewels. I like the hat, she has the flair and personality to wear it with confidence. Well done to her.
ReplyDeleteThe hat is embarrassing who wants the darden on her head? And to think some people think the english have bad hat styles. This is no1 in my book
ReplyDeleteI’m confused enough by your lack of clear writing to not know how to respond. Come back with clear English and correct pronunciation and well try again.
DeleteThe hat was new when the king and queen of The Netherlands were on official visit to the UK when Queen Elizabeth was still alive. I remember Queen Maxima wore this hat to visit the horse races at Ascot. There she was not the only one with a big hat. The dress was new too then, if I remember correctly. I call it her spider dress. I never liked the dress and the hat is really big.
Delete03:31 why do you wear yourself out trying to write in English?
DeleteWhat book? Not an English one .
Just use your mother tongue.
Sorry, but you cannot comment on someones English!
DeleteYou donot know from which country and language he or she comes.
English is not my mother tongue but I try, and are a bit offended by they that donot and write in, mostly, french.
That said: my guess about the hat is that M didnot want it to make too serious: the theme of the Pride week is: you can be yourself.
With this overdone hat she shows this!
Alright, your English is the best thing since sliced bread!
Delete@ Anon 15:20
DeleteEveryone can write in his own language. Google will translate it. We have sometimes people who write in Japanese, Chinese, etc... Do you feel offended too then ? They probably use Google too to translate what we write in English. English is not my mothertongue either, but I am considering this blog as a good excercise. I know I make mistakes. To the French I am trying to write in French (which is my second language) and I know I am making mistakes too, which I discover often when the message is already send out. I discover also big mistakes in the English which is used here on this blog, but I am not going to correct people. Someone who is trying to write in English but does not know much vocabulary is difficult to understand, but it is no reason to feel offended. At least these people are trying and that is something one must admire. I have respect for someone who is trying to write something down in another language than their own.
Ridiculous hat.
ReplyDeleteYou think so? I find it gorgeous, fun, highly flattering and very appropriate for the event. But I’m a hat person. I love them and wish people would wear them systematically all summer long. Are you perhaps not a hat person?
DeleteRidiculous in our eyes, maybe, but it is a special day over there. She wears it quite naturally.
Delete05:36 Ridiculous comment.
DeleteYou don't catch the context.
I'm with Anon 07:49
Delete- Anon 9:13
@05:36, work on your vocabulary, it might help to differentiate.
DeleteHer whole look is perfect. I wonder, why for some high profile meetings Q. Maxima never has a hairdo (sometimes I have a feeling that she doesn't even comb her hair), but for informal occasions like this her hair is impeccably styled.
ReplyDeleteHere she added hair extensions. Her own natural hair is very thin. She cannot style it by herself. She probably had the chance to have an hair stylist at her disposal. Normally she does this for special occasions too. It is not true @ 7:39 that Q. Maxima never has an hairdo for high profile meetings. She is using hair extensions on state visits, kings day, prinsjes dag, official visits to another country, being the host for foreign visitors, etc...
DeleteThis is a rewear which always should be appreciated. Imv for this occasion, opening the World Pride, she might have done a more colourful ensemble. The hat is a big no for me. It might be right at Ascot where wearing a ridiculous hat is a must, but not a this occasion where people cannot see your face from one side.
Achard62
@ Achard62
DeleteAvec plaisir!
@07:39- because it is a wig/hairpiece/extensions. Look at the colour, length and texture then compare with her 'normal' stringy look.
ReplyDeleteP. E. R. F. E. C. T. I. O. N !
ReplyDeleteMaxima wanted them to have a laugh, that's why she was wearing the funny hat!
ReplyDelete@11:52. not really. She wore this hat to Ascot where she sat together with Queen Elizabeth. Ascot is a well-known place for hat extravagance, but sure she did not want to make Queen Elizabeth II laugh. Different contexts, but Máxima's choice fits in both cases.
DeleteThe only person who can wear a hat like this is definitely Máxima - I love this look! And her hair is fabulous.
ReplyDeletelooks like Maxima's PR team is all over this post!
ReplyDeleteHow silly this comment
DeleteCertainly not. Just people who think she’s fabulous and those who prefer women to lift up other women
DeleteNow THAT is a hat and can’t see anyone else wearing it like Maxima!
ReplyDeleteHave you got nothing better to do and correct everyones language and grammer. We may not be as clever as you but we know when someone is being pompus and belittling. just enjoy the blog
ReplyDeleteI agree with Anonymous 18:47
DeleteI don’t see anything pompous in the comments. I see a lot of silly mean throw away lines and some brave commenters challenging the silliness.
DeleteThe hat, over the top as usual. Looks like a bird's nest has unraveled on the side of her head, just waiting for the baby birds to peek out.
ReplyDeleteNow this forum is becoming a grammar forum, and a Maxima can't ever do wrong forum. Sad.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Anonymous 20:18
DeleteAh I think the point on the grammar is just a push back on the poorly conceived mean one liners. Fair enough.
Delete@17:43- perhaps everyone else has some style nd more sense!
ReplyDeleteAnd more respect then you. How stupid this comment and arrogant
DeleteShe looks perfect for this very important ocassion.
ReplyDeletePerfect outfit and hat for this very important day.
ReplyDeleteI thought it was a fun combo for Ascot but this is even better.
Brava!
Perfect outfit and hat for this very important day.

Brava!
@20:18- you are so correct. It appears if you do not praise Maxima her minions take offence and become very churlish. Respect is earned @22:19 only the arrogant think otherwise. To chide someone about their use of English when it probably is not their language is insensitive and bullying.
ReplyDeleteYou can dislike Maxima with style , solid arguments and clear logic.
DeleteStupid comments deserve disparagement instead.
9:00 you have summed up the comments section! Utterly agree.
Delete@09:00 - `solid arguments and clear logic` are sadly missing on this site.
ReplyDeleteWhat a shame. Queen Maxima wears a fun hat, yet many commenters attack others over grammar and sentence structure.
ReplyDeleteIsn’t she in Greece already for their 3 months stay over there?
ReplyDeleteShe never stays 3 months in greece. By the way didn't you notice that in the countries at the Mediterannean the temperatures are much too hot now.
DeleteI think the hat fits in with the spirit of the occasion. Everyone seems to be in a festive mood and having a good time.
ReplyDeleteLove both her dress and hat…her hair is nicely done as well.
ReplyDeleteThe site full of people who love to argue .
