Queen Camilla celebrated her 79th birthday today. She was born on 17 July 1947 in London. To mark the occasion, new portraits of Queen Camilla were released. The portraits, which show the Queen wearing a long blue dress, were taken by royal photographer Chris Jackson last month in the State Drawing Room at Hillsborough Castle in Northern Ireland.
In the photographs, Queen Camilla wore a sapphire-blue midi dress by Fiona Clare. She also wore the Diamond and Sapphire Butterfly Brooch, which was presented to the late Queen Elizabeth II at the Birmingham Spring Fair in February 1977.

Camilla is loved by Charles and has proven herself to be a very appropriate helper to him and Royal in her own right. Her legacy is certainly going to be as a result of her good and consistent work and nothing to do with another “would have been”.

DeleteIt is cruel to say that Diana was divorced and died. She had never the chance to prove what a good supportive queen she would have been. Of course Q. Camilla is loved by K. Charles. He loved her a longtime before Diana became Princess of Wales. Princess Diana discovered nothing changed since he married her. He continued to see Camilla as often as he could, he phoned her and bought presents for her. And Diana in the end (after she became the mother of 2 princes) saw only one solution and that was to divorce the prince of Wales. Which young woman would stay with an husband (prince or no prince) who even didn't care that she knew he would never give up Camilla. She couldn't stay in a marriage where 3 people were involved, like she said herself "it is a bit crowded in this marriage".
DeleteI do not believe that Diana would ever have provided the unconditional support that Camilla does. She was too keen to have the limelight for herself In the very sad and messy Charles and Diana marriage, neither was blameless

ReplyDeleteI love reading royal ladies' biographies and those about Diana are no excerption.
ReplyDeleteI disregard the more "gossipy" ones and favour the more factual , detailed ones, based on reliable sources.
If anyone is interested, I found especially revealing the one by Anne Edwards titled: " Diana and the rise of the House of Spencer".
I am not someone saying " what happened belongs to past", I just like to fathom and dig deep in that past, which obviously resulted in the present occurences.
In hindsight and to cut a long story short, it seems to me that Princess Diana's marriage failure till her most tragic death might have been avoided if only she had possessed a structured personality and a deeper level of maturity.
Putting things in this perspective may sound like my attempt at simplifying facts but that's exactly what I am sure caused all the misery Diana experienced throughout her short life.
An unhappy childhood led to her feeling unsure ,never fitting in well anywhere and she was far too young when she fell in love with Prince Charles, who was several years her senior and focused on giving a heir to the crown
A more mature woman would have sensed she was moving on a mined territory and would have got away from it all as soon as possibile without either afterthoughts or regrets whatsoever.
Charles was an attached man already and persevering in the almost childish idea of marrying the fairytale prince was bound to be a disaster.
Diana was crazy in love, Charles was not.
It was just like wanting to build something on the sand: the
castle crashed down and the weakest one sank.
There are many similar unhappy marriages throughout history.
Different royal households, different centuries. and cultural contexts, same cruel fate.

Elisabeth von Wittelsbach) , Emperor Franz- Joseph's wife, a most celebrated lady both for her beauty and personality all across the world, was nothing more than what she herself defined as follows:
" I am a prisoner [ in a golden cage] and I am the one who holds and has power on my own chains] - this is how it translates from German.
She developed self - destructive traits in her behaviour as years went by and acting as a rebel was the mask she put on to survive inside a royal family whose strict rules and expectations were a poison for her free spirit.

It can be denied that Queen Camilla is a hard working royal lady so credit where credit is due.
The past can't be changed buti it is fully legit to wonder if Diana's destiny would have been different under more favourable circumstances.

DeleteJust like you, I have read numerous qualified biographies about Diana. A young, innocent girl of 19 could not compete with an older and very experienced (emotionally and otherwise) rival and reacted accordingly, very confused and helpless. My conclusion is that in view of Charles‘s obsession,
