The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh's daughter, Lady Louise Windsor, has completed her four-year English degree at the University of St Andrews in Scotland and has taken part in her graduation ceremony. On Thursday, the Royal Family's social media account shared graduation photographs of Lady Louise taken at the university.
In one of the photographs, Lady Louise is seen alongside her parents, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh. Lady Louise, who is 17th in line to the throne, has spent the past four years studying English at the Scottish university and has now completed her degree.

Well done to Lady Louise. Her parents look very proud of her. I am really liking Sophie’s new haircut. It is flattering and youthful (in a good way) on her.

Congrats to the young lady. Her mum is wearing a great dress and terrible shoes. Maybe she was heading for the beach immediately after and wasn’t going to have time to change footwear
ReplyDeleteYour post put a grin on my face, and I totally agree with you; her mom was wearing a great dress and terrible shoes! - Ellie
DeleteEspradilles are common summer shoes. Not terrible. As we see Sophie wear them often I’m also assuming that she finds them comfortable and as we age our feet really do take comfort as a priority.

DeleteI agree.
Sophie's shoes are wrong for her dress, too casual.
On a positive note her shorter haircut is very youthful.
And last but not least congratulations to Lady Louise.
Cate.
Go girl,great news,wish you well
ReplyDeleteDear Sophie combined again everything that needs to be kept separate in order to look good: A nice dress (not my taste but sure nice for other people) ruined by a blazer utterly incompatible with a flowy pussy bow dress and if that would not be more than enough, by a pair of espadrilles, good enough with a very different outfit for a a very different occasion, but sure not at the graduation of one's daughter ... I cannot stop wondering, why she does this, but she must do it fully convinced that everything is in the best of orders. ... Congratulations and best wishes for future decisions, Lady Luise!
ReplyDeleteI echo your comments, she is looking great for her age, the new hair style suits her wonderfully. But the mix of styles and fabrics, just ruins the overall look.
DeleteCongratulations to the young lady

I agree, it saddens me to see Sophie combine these 3 items in one outfit. Lyra
DeleteShe dresses as she does because she wants to. Besides which I think she looks perfectly put together for the event and I’m happy they’ve allowed us a photo. More importantly, her daughter’s name is Louise.

DeleteWell said, I agree.
You are quite right! Unbelievable mis-combination of things in itself good.
Delete@04:09: "she dresses as she does because she wants to": you provie this important info because we might be delusional enough to think she is forced to dress like she does? I don't think so. But her free will does not make the end result more pleasant. - But thanks for the name correction, it's a shame, I noticed it just at the moment I submitted so it was too late.
DeleteNasty comments, but they really have no importance to the duchess.
DeleteAh yes I sometimes make typos just before I press PUBLISH too! And that autocorrect on my phone does some crazy things! We’ll agree on that and agree to disagree on Sophie. I wish commenters would limit what they write by considering that any of the royals or their kids can stumble on this and be wounded by the highly critical and sometimes disrespectful comments.
DeleteLove Sophies hair.Shoes look great and summery.Proud family,it is great when you graduate from Uni (Tiffany)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to Lady Louise. She is highly impressive. The photo with her parents is my favorite. The Duke, looks so well groomed. I love the color of his shirt and tie, his jacket looks to be deep Navy. He is so well co ordinated with the Duchess. Sophie's dress, I love, very elegant, stylish and so feminine. I don't like the dress combined with this blazer. The blazer does not blend, combine well with this dress. Her shoes are a no. Her hair shorter, looks so good. The length frames her face well, her hair has more volume, cut this way appears thicker. She looks fresh and young.
ReplyDeleteThey all look lovely and dressed very well and very proud and happy. Congratulations to Louise.
ReplyDeleteFirst things first, congratulations to Lady Louise on completing her degree and best wishes to her for her future. She has said her gap year will include working, volunteering and travelling, exactly the same choices as I have for my retirement with ‘studying’ instead of working! 😀
ReplyDeleteThe Duke and Duchess are suitably proud parents but oh, Sophie, why? The dress itself is appropriate, if inevitably too long. The blazer doesn’t match. She needs short jackets for her dresses. The espadrilles are dreadful with this dress. She doesn’t need super smart courts if she finds them uncomfortable and a wedge heel is a good idea for walking on grass, pebbles and shingle. However, she must have smart sandals somewhere that would have looked better than this.
My thoughts exactly. Her blazers, similar to her dresses, are typically too long and when paired with an ankle length dress, the long blazer just brings the whole look down. This occasion needs a leather shoe, either flat or heeled, but espadrilles are a no go. Both her husband and daughter understood the dress code.
DeletePS Lors de l’obtention de son diplôme, la chevalière va t-elle de pair ?
ReplyDeleteWell fashion wise the blue dress is nice perhaps a tad to long, but I do like the espadrilles, they are nice and casual. Not keen on that jacket, but it is her signature look. Edward perfect fit. It is a fashion blog but these parents pride is lovely to see, refreshing closeness for British royals.
ReplyDeleteI agree with most of the comments regarding Sophie's choice of clothing items. Dress simply does not need a jacket. Shoes don't match the dress or event. Lady Louise looks all grown up - love her black pumps. The Duke looks immaculately attired. Wish he would give some style tips to his fashion-needy wife.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to Lady Louise!!! The photos are beautiful. Her parents look so proud. To remember the tough start to life of this young woman and her mother's nearly died giving birth to her must make this accomplishment all the more special for her parents. Edward looks wonderful--very polished and quite the debonaire gentleman. Sophie looks lovely--her shorter hair is one of the best fashion choices of the year. Her dress is a beautiful repeat. People are complaining about her shoes and the addition of a jacket. Perhaps it was chilly and she needed to add the jacket for warmth. I'm fine with the jacket as I know when I was in Scotland a few years ago at this very time of year I needed to wear an extra layer because it was chilly. OK--her shoes are not a great choice for the dress. Sophie seems to love her espadrilles and wears them frequently. I'm ok with this because this was a family event, not a royal event. She is a proud mother at her daughter's university graduation so I don't really care that she's wearing the wrong shoes.
