They then visited the Japanese Tower in the Royal Domain of Laeken. The tower is part of the Museums of the Far East, a complex of three museums in Laeken, and was designed in the style of a traditional Japanese pagoda.

Mathilda's dress is a lovely summery color, but I've never been a fan of ruching around the stomach area.Imho Natan nearly always gets something wrong with an outfit.
I love the color of the shirt that the Empress is wearing and it looks great with white pants.

  2. I love the butter yellow colour of Mathilde's dress. It's a relatively simple design so the ruching at the waistline adds an interesting feature to the overall look.

The Empress wore these white pants with those white shoes just recently. With the slim shoulder-bag, it's a look I really like -- simple, casual, comfortable but still elegant. Lyra

The Japanese Tower is located in a hamlet (named Mustaard)
near the palace, but not on the estate itself.

I was surprised to see such an authentic Japanese-style garden there! It looks beautiful.
Their refreshing icy-toned outfits look so elegant and perfect for the season.

Mathilde looks pretty in yellow; however, the gathered fabric at the waist is not very flattering and probably wouldn’t be on most people. I wonder why she did not dress slightly more casually, as the Empress did, for being outside and in greenhouses. The Empress is more casually dressed, but she still looks crisp, cool, and immaculate.

I wondered too why she didn’t dress more casually. It doesn’t actually matter why, but I did wonder! I thought why not at least wear comfy shoes then wondered… do heels actually feel more comfortable to her?!

Maybe out of respect to her guests?

If you ever have been in the greenhouses you know why it is not really necessary to be dressed casually. It is like entering another world.
Often on state banquets, a part of the green house is used to expose the dessert buffets and having dessert, coffee or tea after the banquet. I don't think they did it now because there were no photos of it. I know it has been done for the state visits of The Netherlands and France.

Lovely Lovely pictures of a very friendly and warm visit.
The soft green blouse of the Empress is exquisite, and she looks so happy in it,

Queen Mathilde wore this yellow butter coloured dress for the 1st time in the USA at the Graduation ceremony for Princess Elisabeth at Harvard University. I like her in that dress and I also like her light beige handbag and shoes. She is also wearing a pair of her modern golden earrings. The Empress is also wearing a fresh and light green shirt blouse and cream coloured pants and a lovely cream shoulder bag. The Emperor and the King looked also fresh in their white shirts. To close the state visit to Belgium they visited the green houses and the Japanese tower in the parc. With the high temperatures (less hot weather is announced on sunday and the week to come), it felt probably fresher under the trees in the parc. I think they enjoyed their visit to The Netherlands and Belgium and I hope they have a save fligth back home.

Normally, ruching over the tummy rarely works (to my eyes), but everything about this dress is just stunning on HM Q Mathilde. This is a rare Nathan that hits the mark - the color is great and it flatters her figure so well. If I were the Queen, I’d have this made in a few other colors )))!

The yellow dress is a lovely fresh colour, not sure about the ruching on the tummy. The pale green shirt is cool looking. The emperor has a good fitting pant and shirt, and cute to see the curl in his hair. The king must of lost weight, or the pants are too big, because it buckles around the waist. They two couples seem to enjoy each others company

Since King Philippe cannot run hard anymore (on doctors order) like before, he gained a bit of weight. King Philippe has problems (artrose) in one of his hips.

For a natan dress it just passes.the colour is better than the heavy use of ruching. Less is more

They are looking summery and happy. The greenhouses must be very hot inside now (it's 36°C outside). I would love to visit the pagode myself but it's closed for visitors unfortunately.

This state visit was such a treat on every aspect. Perfect clothing and genuine warmth between everyone. Truly wonderful!

In the greenhouses there is a constant control of the temperature. There is also humidification of the plants. The greenhouses are known for their big collection of tropical and subtropical plants. If the pagode was open for visitors it would have been damaged by now. Only for special visitors and sometimes on very special ocassions the pagode can be visited. I've always heard this pagode has been built for a World Exhibition in the past, but I must look up in what period this happened. Probably at the end of the 19th century. Besides there is or was another Far East building in Laeken what is called "the Chinese pavillion".

The style of this soft yellow Natan is fantastic on the Queen. The wider cut on the top/sleeves paired with the ruching at the waist is very flattering and her height works well with the midi length.

Both couples look fresh and summery in a casual way. The Emperor and Empress look quite happy and I hope they had a lovely and relaxed stay . Their seems to be a genuine friendship between both couples.

Two typhoons are currently sweeping across Japan.
I hope the weather improves by the time the Emperor and Empress arrive in Tokyo.

  18. The ruching at just below to the waist, towards the hips area is not flattering, I don't feel it would be flattering on any females shape. The color of the dress is pretty. If it wasn't for the ruching, I feel the skirt of the dress would have had more movement. The overall look thus would have been much more successful. The neckline and sleeves are good. The length is good, her height comes in handy with this dress. The Empress looks beautiful. I love her mint colored top, this I find very attractive, the belt accompaniment, is perfect overall. The pants, in white fit beautifully, not baggy another positive! and the perfect length. Her white shoes look nice, her bag looks to be light beige? Very lovely and elegant overall.
