The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh are on a three-day visit to Portugal. On June 1, 2026, the Duke and Duchess were welcomed by Lisbon Mayor Carlos Moedas in Lisbon. Accompanied by the Mayor of Lisbon, the Duke and Duchess visited the Portuguese National Archive to open the Treaty of Windsor exhibition. Later, the Duke and Duchess attended a garden party at the residence of the British Ambassador in Lisbon.

The Duchess looks lovely, both dresses look pretty and elegant. I like longer dresses, but even for me, both these dresses are a bit too long. The red shoes with her Matelier dress I don't find attractive. I like her up style hair on both occasions and lovely to see her wearing jewellery. The Duke looks well groomed and attired. Lovely to see them both together on this 3 day visit.
ReplyDeleteI don’t particularly like the crimson shoes either but I see that Sophie seems to like practical soles when she’s on grass or uneven surfaces, so I think that explains the choice. It’s where it’s SO much easier for men, where they can wear and rewear flat, comfortable, lace up shoes for all occasions and they always get it right and one ever comments or notices!
DeleteMême si elle est un peu trop longue, la robe Matelier a ma préférence avec son fond fraise miam miam !
ReplyDeleteThis length makes every *day* dress look like a nightgown. I am not insatiable, just 15 cm off of the red dress, like on the model, would make it look really good. As it is, it is not good, especially not with these shoes. - Same applies for the Suzannah dress, allover small florals and long sleeves make it even more look like nightwear.
ReplyDeleteAgree !! And why on earth nearly always hide beautiful legs ??

DeleteI am a real fan of Duchess Sophie - but this time I do not like her outfits. The white dress is far too long for her size and the black shoes for the red dress a clear NO for me.
ReplyDeleteThe pattern on Sophie's first dress is very feminine and pretty, but I know that some will say that the length is too long.Looking at the model it is supposed to be a maxi dress.
ReplyDeleteI like the color and pattern in Sophie's second dress, just not sure about the footwear.
Cate.
I've just seen a short video of Sophie in the red dress, and it looks lovely on her! Much more flattering than I thought; it shows the back view too, and the fluted long sleeves. The colour is beautiful too. The Susannah dress is more Sophie's style; it's very long (but it's also long on the model). It's a pretty style, but I prefer the other - just my opinion!
ReplyDeleteThis is simply a growing pattern. Most dresses (unaltered) are simply too long on Sophie (as they would be on me) because of her height. I love the white dress but it is not a good overall fit for her.
ReplyDeleteDifferent pair of shoes on both dresses will make all the difference when we're talking about the length of the dresses
ReplyDeleteThe red Matelier dress is lovely but spoiled by the clumpy sandals. She may well not have wanted heels on the grass but could have found something more elegant. The Suzannah dress is okay and clearly meant to be a maxi length but somehow it looks wrong. Six to eight inches shorter and it would have looked great. She's still lovely.
ReplyDeleteSophie likes longer dresses. It’s her preference, clearly. Why are we cutting her down every single time? Can we not accept that this is her personal preference and move on to other things? Imagine her reading here … and how she might feel.
ReplyDeleteJust when I thought Sophie's dresses and skirts couldn't get any longer she managed to just that. Maybe she will start wearing trains next. However, I do like the fabric and print of both dresses. They are very attractive.
