Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako of Japan are on a two-day state visit to Belgium. This year, Belgium and Japan are celebrating 160 years of diplomatic relations. On June 20, the Emperor and Empress arrived in Belgium. On June 23, 2026, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde officially welcomed Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako at the Royal Palace.
Following the reception of the Emperor and Empress at the Royal Palace, the King and Queen visited Brussels City Hall together with Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako. In the evening, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde will host a state banquet at the Castle of Laeken in honour of Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako.

حذفEmpress Masako’s outfit suits her beautifully. Her hat is beautiful and different from her normal style. This one I prefer. Mathilde’s outfit is a beautiful colour and length for her. However the shape at the top requires her to pull back her shoulders and stand really erect; it is an unforgiving soft material it seems from the back.
ردحذفWhen she wears Natan it is not good and the fabric is too stiff. Now that she is wear a light summer dress by Dior you found something else. I think Queen Mathilde stands always right up like it should be, no matter in what fabric her clothes are made. I prefer the color and the style of dress than the suit of the Empress who dresses much too old for her age.
حذفI like the interesting details on the Empress’s outfit - the ruffled neckline, the darker cuffs, the pleats/folds of the skirt, the bow on her hat. I do wish the outfit was slightly less shiny, but I imagine the fabric is gorgeous in person. Mathilde’s outfit looks aging on her to me for some reason, especially from the back. Maybe it’s the combination of the hat shape and wider neckline that gives me that impression. Her updo is quite lovely.

Both ladies look lovely in these colourful outfits. The blush pink on Mathilde is flattering along with the tie around the waist. Masako looks smart in the lavender suit. Even though I don't care for the shiny fabric it has some nice features like the flounce collar and the pleats in the front of the skirt. Her hat is also stylish.
ردحذفI love the colors both ladies are wearing; the soft lilac and rose pink are so beautiful together in the photos. Love that the empress is wearing a different style of hat than her usual — and Mathilde’s hat and hairstyle are sheer perfection ❤️

حذفThey both look perfect to me, each in a style and colour that suits them well. Love the empresses hat. The gents look very dapper as well, the emperor’s tie a shade off the empresses suit.

The Empress, looks breathtaking. I love the different color she chose, very attractive and becoming of her. The slightly different shade of her cuffs, collar etc.. is a welcome and clever addition, breaking up the color and adding interest. Only slight quibble the sheen/shine of the fabric. Her hat is stellar, really lovely, the bow on this occasion, I love, perfect finishing touch. I love, love! the color of her shoes and clutch, gorgeous shade. Her single strand pearl necklace, excellent compliment to this very elegant outfit, I would so love to see her dress in more colors and designs such as this beautiful ensemble.
ردحذفThe Queen looks beautiful, color, style and skirt of dress, lovely movement and swish. Not quite sure, but bodice area, or top section, not fitting well, bulky, not quite figured this one out. Maybe someone else has a better clue. Thank you so much.
I can’t think of any other royal lady that could pull off wearing such a shiny material. Yet it looks perfectly elegant on the Empress. I like the ruffle on the lapel. I also like the almost A-line base of the skirt. But above all that, the hat is the cherry on top. We’re not used to seeing HIM in this style,but I hope she does continue wearing it in the future.
ردحذفQM stunning in Dior. The color is beautiful and so flattering. I like that it skims the body, rather than cling, which can sometimes can be unforgiving. The hat plus neutral accessories, finished off a stunning look.
