On June 19, 2026, Queen Silvia marked 50 years as Queen of Sweden. Queen Silvia, born on 23 December 1943, married King Carl XVI Gustaf on 19 June 1976. June 19 also marks the 50th wedding anniversary of King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia. Last week, the King and Queen celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in Stockholm with a series of events.

To mark Queen Silvia’s 50th anniversary as the King’s consort, new photographs taken by photographer Therese Öhrvall in the palace park at Drottningholm were released. In the photographs, Queen Silvia is wearing her Öland national costume. Midsummer will be celebrated privately at Solliden on Öland.

    Det är ingen lätt uppgift denna brasilianska skönheten fick sin början av sitt uppdrag som Drottning i nya landet Sverige att ta till sig.Vilken otroligt begågåvad,entusiastisk Drottning från dag ett hon har varit tills nu 50 år senare och många år till.
    Vilken lycka för oss svenskar att hon var den som kungen valde!

    She’s lovely. Cannot believe it’s been 50 years! Swedes reading this … how are ticks this season?… ticks in these grasses swirling around her beautiful National dress? And does anyone know what region the dress represents?

    Really like the natural setting for these photos. She’s a wonderful Queen and it seems her decades of work and commitment to the country are being well celebrated.

    I remember when the handsome Swedish king married his foreign beauty. She has been a wonderful queen & has served her adopted country well. She said recently that she feels like she is "married to Sweden". ~~Ruthie

      Sweden around midsummer is in fact one of the most beautiful places... Lots of flowers, long summer evenings... These pictures are well chosen, it is the essence of Swedish summer and the Queen looks so happy and serene. I am happy that she has gotten the proper attention she deserves.
