I can't say I'm that keen on the Zimmerman dress, I'm not sure about the colour. It looks a bit "fussy" too. The Natan dress though is lovely on Maxima; the turquoise colour is gorgeous and really suits her. It's interesting to see when she wears the dupatta and when she is carrying it; I think it's respectful of her to have it on this visit.

I have a wrap dress very similar in style and fabric to the aqua one Maxima is wearing. It's a flattering style, but as I have discovered, it is best kept very simple. The enormous belt buckle on Maxima's dress is in my view competing for attention with the striking cuffs and overpowering the look ,because of its size. I feel that an unobtrusive buckle would better suit this otherwise classic design. Lyra

    1. There is frequently something too large or not right with a Natan garment. Why is that brand so popular with Maxima and Malthilde?

The enormous belt belongs to the dress cause that's the way Natan designed it and I love it

    3. The answer to 01:46's question was given on 23/06 by another anonymous colleague. It was very well analysed, it is worth remembering about it :
"Natan doesn't stick to the old traditions of couture but often comes with something new. Natan uses more up-to-date ways of making dresses, coats, etc... Sometimes the house of Natan is looking back at older traditional haute couture houses like Christian Dior, who has been copied lately not only by Natan but by several other designers.
Also Natan's assymetrical ideas of making dresses have been copied by several designers. Maybe Natan copied himself these ideas which have been used in the past by other famous designers.
In fashion sooner or later everything is coming back.
Not every queen or princess wishes to wear old fashion or traditional
      ways of couture. "

I notice on the blue dress she has had the sleeves made shorter.

No the dress on the model was the original dress but Queen Maxima's dress had short sleeves from the beginning. Also Queen Mathilde has this dress in a printed fabric with the same short sleeves.

  4. I am not a fan of the Yellow./ white Zimmerman dress, but in saying that I feel it suits Maxima well, she has the height to wear it well. I don't like the color or the tier in the skirt. I do prefer the belt on the model it changes the overall look to me in a positive/good way. I don't like the belt the Queen is wearing at all.
Not a fan of the earrings she is wearing with this dress.
The blue dress on the other hand I find attractive. She looks very good here.

Although the design concept may be ok I find both Zimmermann and Natan always add something (belt, frill, cuffs, wrong neckline etc) that is that one thing too much and the outfit doesn`t gel. Roots showing, straggly hair, definitley a different colour and length from last week when entertaining the JIF, draw your own conclusion.

Je crois me rappeler que Maxima a déjà porté la robe de Natan de couleur turquoise ; je l'avais préférée avec une ceinture lègèrement moins large comme celle du mannequin !

The dresses Queen Maxima is wearing here are rewear of older dresses. They are two different types of dresses. One like it or one don't like it. Zimmerman dresses can be worn in a hot climate but there a better dresses of that brand.
The turquoise dress is from the period there was a revival when the Dior dresses from end 40s begin 50s were fashion again. First the house of Dior itself repeated their old style and several brands copied these dresses too. Only tall women can wear them with high heels otherwise these dresses are not attractive to me.

This turmeric yellow colour is a good match for India because it abounds there in so many ways - fabric, food, fruit, flowers, temple robes, turbans, spices, etc. It is a common colour found there everywhere, and therefore fits in very well with the culture. I think it's a pretty Zimmerman dress and Maxima looks really good in it. I also like the Natan dress very much and remember when she first wore it. This time, the dress would have looked even better had she worn her hair up when visiting with P.M. Modi.
