On June 16, 2026, Queen Mathilde of Belgium visited the Zeepreventorium pediatric rehabilitation centre in De Haan. The centre, which celebrates its 100th anniversary this year, specialises in supporting children and young people with chronic conditions such as cystic fibrosis and obesity. The Queen received a guided tour of the centre and met several young patients, their parents, and healthcare professionals.
During her visit, the Queen focused in particular on conditions that are becoming increasingly common among young people and that require a multidisciplinary approach and close involvement of parents. These include eating disorders, mental health issues, and chronic functional pain conditions. For the occasion, Queen Mathilde wore a lucky plunge linen maxi dress by Zimmermann.

ردحذفZimmerman were so lucky the day Crown Princess Mary walked in to their shop, began her love affair with the brand, and began to publicise (by wearing their garments beautifully) what I suspect would otherwise have remained an Australia only brand!
ردحذفMathilde looks beautiful in this gorgeous dress. The print, the placement of the pattern and the design are spectacular. The birds at the bottom are unique and the shape of the sleeves are lovely. I like how a smaller print was used from the collar, neckline and belt all the way down the middle. It gives the dress some definition. Great care was taken to ensure the back also looks splendid.

حذفlol...the moment I saw this dress in the 3rd photo I knew it was by Zimmerman :) It's a lovely dress. Zimmerman does lovely things combining the patterns of the fabric. Mathilde look cool and comfortable in it. The high waist style and slightly flared skirt is perfect on her.

It was a good day to visit De Haan (Belgian North Sea). The first day the weather changed into a series of days with good (hot) weather.
ردحذفIt is not the first dress by Zimmerman Queen Mathilde is wearing. I cannot say it is not a good style for her and maybe it is very appropriate for this visit, but she has better outfits to wear for a visit like this. Queen Mathilde was in the company of the mayor of the city De Haan and of the Governor of the Province of West Flanders.
She must have made the day for the children, nice dress. Always nice to see her.

ردحذفMathilde wore so many nice outfits in the past weeks that this one is an excusable failure. But a failure it is - because Zimmermann's qualities are excellent exactly (and only) when the design fits the body type of the wearer. Which is very much not the case here. Bulky skirts and a very pronounced waistline are features that do not serve well for Mathilde. If the dress is appropriate for the visit or not is a totally different question, being appropriate does not make it look better on her.

I think we can say a dress is a failure if it reveals your undies, or falls apart, or splits on the first wear… but I think what you’re describing here - rather dramatically - is simply a dress you don’t like? That’s ok. I happen to think it’s a beautiful dress and that the colouring suits Mathilde very well.

I think it is just a bit more than dislike, and I usually take great care to give reasons why I don't like a dress, because this "I don't like it" can be a bit meager and uninteresting for a comment. The reasons I gave - those are some specific criteria that keep to be repeated in this blog re Mathilde and that should be considered when she chooses a dress. And so many times she does consider them! But not this time. - So please, even if you *don't like* my comment, be so kind and consider that it might have a place among more positive comments. حذفAnd what about all the other queens and princesses who are not perfect and are wearing dresses and coats which are make them even slimmer than they already are. Queen Mathilde is a woman and a mother who had children. She is not super slim but she has a natural body and face. And as long as she is healthy and can coop a lot of work as a queen and a representative of international organizations and now recently leading the economic missions, we as Belgians are happy and proud to have a queen like her.
This dress is perfect on the queen. The undergarments makes the difference along with her height
ردحذفThe Australian brand Zimmerman, did well here, this is a beautiful dress, its nothing over the top, simple dress, but totally gorgeous! It looks very attractive, flattering of the Queen and so elegant. The placement of the pattern, combined colors blending beautifully together, very subtle not overpowering and feminine. The distinctive birds look both singular and highly striking. Overall so eye catching without being overbearing in pattern, which we tend to see more often than not. I like this style and design of the dress, this is a example of the style suiting her shape and height.
ردحذفI feel the shoes and clutch are a lighter shade of grey? whatever the color looking lovely.
The buttons down the front adding interest and attractive.
Love her hair, it appears a little longer, which is very flattering, its added softness and femininity. Her makeup looks perfect, light and natural. Her earrings up close are pretty, of substance a good size. The stones appear to be grey in color (I think) Beautiful presentation.
I found out that Q. Mathilde's earrings are by the French brand Gas bijoux. Her grey shoes are by Dior and her clutch is from the Belgian brand "Voort studio's".
ردحذفPersonal perspective, but I find Zimmerman too much. Lots of flowers in the pattern, lots of various ways of applying them on the body of the dress, often fills and lace and…. just too much. This dress is not an exception for me. Same busy dresses where the eye doesn’t have a place to rest and get a view that might resemble elegance.
