Happy special 21st Birthday to this beautiful princess.
Gotta say that I love her edgy, sometimes quirky, and always contemporary style of dressing. Reminds all of us of the joys of youth. I also wish her every success in her studies.

I seem to always be on the same page as you. I agree, love her free spirit including her somewhat unique style.

Engineering is a very interesting career path for a second in line royal, a girl in particular. Good luck to her and her siblings.

Girls can achieve what they want in this century, civil engeering is not limited to one gender

1:14… comment true but really not needed. The commenter before was simply saying it’s an interesting career.

I rarely like asymmetric garments. It’s a conservative fashion preference. But I see here that it can work very well on a young person when the garment is carefully balanced. And I think the reason it works is because the dress is very plain so it isn’t overwhelming me with features and then asymmetry on top; her hair is relaxed but sleek, dress sleek, boots coordinated and sleek, belt just enough and then the asymmetric sleeves work. Interesting. Happy birthday Alexia! May you find your place in the world, adventure, peace and joy.

Yours is a very thought-provoking good observation and while I read it, I was reminded of a greek toga, fabric bound together in a knot over one shoulder and everything else is more or less a matter of how the fabric flows.

Yes, for me it is the belt and the way she has worn it that transforms this dress/outfit to something special.

  5. J’ai toujours noté que la princesse Alexia avait un certain goût pour se vêtir ; là, cela se vérifie dans le port de cette robe originale ressortie de son dressing - Par contre, je remplacerai les bottes par d’élégantes sandales !

The daughters of the Dutch royal family seem entirely devoid of a fashion gene.
And yet again, this proves it perfectly — spectacularly missing the point. Frieda

@Frieda, young people are all on the internet. Any of the princesses may look here and the last thing we should be doing is hurting them. It is not ok to criticise young people and your comment is better kept in your mind.

Fashion and haute couture aren’t about playing it safe or following the crowd. They’re about innovation, individuality, and having the courage to experiment. I applaud the Dutch royals for taking risks with their style. Whether everyone likes a particular look is beside the point.

Reiss heeft vaak leuke kleding maar deze jurk ziet er goedkoop uit qua materiaal. Een schuine snit is vaak heel edgy maar is hier niet echt geslaagd.

Happy Birthday!!! Adding the belt was an excellent idea--it adds pizzaz to her style and the dress. Sorry, but not a fan of the boots with the dress--I think the sandals shown with model is a better choice. But, that's just me--I think Alexia looks lovely here.

  11. This outfit looks edgy and stylish, I love it. I really like the way she has styled this. Love, love! her gold earrings, they are of substance, a good size. She looks so much like her Mum, its uncanny! Happy Birthday Alexia.

Souvent on la voit habillée avec des bottes. Est ce qu il fait comme ça froid aux Pays-Bas pour les porter en cette saison?

They look great with this outfit. No doubt this is why she wears them. Texan girls wear dresses and cowboy boots all summer long. Not to do with warmth but with the look they want to achieve.

A case of trying too hard to achieve an image which one stops posing is not particularly practical. The finish on the hem is poor and the draping rather stiff.
