On June 25, 2026, Princess Aiko of Japan visited an exhibition marking the 100th anniversary of the birth of the late Japanese fashion designer Hanae Mori at the National Art Center. The exhibition features approximately 400 works by the designer, including haute couture dresses and archival materials. Hanae Mori is also known for designing Empress Masako’s wedding dress. For the exhibition visit, Princess Aiko wore one of her mother’s outfits.
Hanae Mori (8 January 1926 – 11 August 2022) was a Japanese fashion designer. She was one of only two Japanese women to present her collections on the runways of Paris and New York, and the first Asian woman to be officially recognised as a haute couture house by the Fédération française de la couture in France.
For her visit to the exhibition, Princess Aiko wore a yellow outfit previously worn by Empress Masako. The outfit was designed by Hanae Mori and had originally been worn during a visit to a centre for people with disabilities in Nanao, Ishikawa Prefecture, on 26 September 1994.

Beautiful outfit that fits the prinsess a lot better than many others she has worn. Lovely colour and I love the slim cut of the jacket.. Timeless design.
