Pope Leo XIV began an official visit to Spain that includes a series of institutional and religious events. The Holy Father will remain in Spain from June 6 to June 12 and is scheduled to visit Madrid, Barcelona, and Tenerife. On June 6, 2026, King Felipe and Queen Letizia of Spain welcomed Pope Leo XIV at Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport upon his arrival in Spain, marking the beginning of his Apostolic Visit.
Later, King Felipe and Queen Letizia, accompanied by Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofía, hosted a Welcome Ceremony for His Holiness Pope Leo XIV at the Royal Palace of Madrid. For the ceremony, Queen Letizia wore a white guipure dress by The 2ND Skin Co.

Magnifique Letizia

QL has so beatiful summery dress❤️
ReplyDeleteWe have seen this dress before I think … also with the Pope but in Roma? It’s stunning!
ReplyDeleteNo, quello di Roma era un altro modello, non era così largo e forse era quasi un tubino.
DeleteQuesto onestamente lo trovo un po’ troppo pomposo, sembra un abito da sposa.
Fue en Egipto
DeleteMaybe (probably :-) I am alone with this. Yes, I know, Letizia cannot wear high heels and I am not a fan of high heels anyway. But with a long and voluminous skirt like this, I would opt either for flat shoes, very elegant ballerinas, or shoes with a small heel but more heel volume, so to speak. These minuscule heels are like made for liliputian women ... somehow funny, not really elegant. - The dress is made for tiny waists, so it is of course beautiful on her.
ReplyDeletePS to 15:28: I wrote "funny" - addition: view from behind and from the side.
DeleteTotally agree about kitten heels. They look awkward to me as well.
DeleteThe shoes are not the problem, it is the dress which is too long and the skirt of the dress is too wide. Look at Princess Leonor she is wearing black kitten heels with a shorter dress and the proportions are OK which is not the case with Queen Letizia.
DeleteI don’t have a problem with dress or shoes - this is a FABULOUS look for Letizia.
DeleteThe dress overwhelms QL with the voluminous skirt and she appears to look uncomfortable. Beautiful fabric and color, and looks wonderful from the waist up. MR
ReplyDeletePrincess Leonor is sadly wearing an ill fitting dress with a dreadful hemline. It looks like something one finds at a second hand shop. What a shame to see such a beautiful young woman dressed with such a horrid dress in such an important occasion. MR
ReplyDeleteMR it’s no doubt a dress that Leonor has chosen and it’s part of growing up to experiment and enjoy different styles. Good on her! It might not be to your taste, but it is not at all horrible. Let’s let young people enjoy their youth without harsh criticism.
DeleteLeonor's dress reminds me office style, not quite appropriate for such a solemn occasion. Anon. 22:47, it's no doubt that Leonor chooses her outfits, but imho those choices are probably approved by her mother or a royal stylist (if they have one), at least for such grand events as a reception of the Pope.
DeleteI don't agree at all. I like Leonor's dress a lot. It's modern and favors her, she looks very good with it.
DeleteThe royals are impeccably dressed and the photos are stunning for the Pope’s welcome. I absolutely love this white lace dress on QL. The long sleeves and crew neck fit perfectly but the voluminous skirt is the big statement, and it’s fabulous. The belt and shoes both work as well. And can’t forgot to mention how well dressed and tailored the King is again.
ReplyDeleteBeautifull queen no lovely princesses
ReplyDeleteTwo lovely princesses, you see them standing there in black with their parents.
DeleteLetizia's dress could be used as a beautiful wedding gown.
ReplyDeleteExquisite and appropriate dress on Letizia. Respect.
ReplyDeleteMagnifique cette robe estivale que Letizia porte de par ses problèmes de pied avec des chaussures à petits talons !
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love Queen Letizia's white dress. Very Elegant. While I am not a personal fan of kitten heels, the white shoes work well for her in this instance. I prefer low block heels, including sling backs for a chic look The queen in white and the princesses in black presents a beautiful picture of respect and solemnity. I agree about the hemline of Leonor's dress and think some type of heels would have looked better for Sofia, (the flats look a little sloppy) but those are minor quibbles in comparison to the overall look.
ReplyDeleteIt's a pity that shift dresses and sheath dresses are almost nonexistent these days, replaced mostly by dresses with wide skirts. Add length to the width ... and there you are, swallowed by fabric. I don't mind them - sometimes. But not all the time ...
ReplyDeleteWow what a fantastic dress Q Letizia is wearing at the Popes arrival. Both Pss's look good in black. His Holiness has a big and busy week ahead of him. I wish him all the best on his mission of reaching the people. Wish I was there.

That's alotta lotta lace in a 1 dress
ReplyDelete100%! MR
DeleteI wonder why the princesses had to wear black. (There are other good colors like blue, beige, etc...) I don't think it is necessary due to protocol. Under pope Francis the protocol concerning clothes was less severe. I think this pope likes the older protocol of the former popes.
ReplyDeleteDon’t have to - but it is respectful to do so - and Spain is a catholic country at heart. A respectful choice from both girls.
DeleteIts wonderful to see a rewear of this classic dress. Up close its quite beautiful. Perfect for this religious visit. Protocol, I feel the Queen has this covered. The royal young ladies look good, my preference is Infanta Sofia very elegant. Leonor has chosen what she likes, good for her, she looks fine, personally the hem is something I don't like, regardless her choice she is young and she looks appropriate.
