King Charles III Opens the Seventh Session of the Scottish Parliament

On June 27, 2026, King Charles III and Queen Camilla attended the official opening of the seventh session of the Scottish Parliament at the Scottish Parliament Building in Edinburgh. Following the ceremony, the King and Queen met local heroes nominated by MSPs for their “extraordinary contribution” to local communities.

The King and Queen also watched a performance by the National Theatre of Scotland, which is marking its 20th anniversary. The performance included a poem celebrating the theatre’s 20th anniversary, as well as an excerpt from its production Through The Shortbread Tin, performed by members of The Lyceum Youth Theatre.
