Is this green megalomaniac left sleeve (s. last pic) the little sister of the pink megalomaniac left sleeve Stephanie's outfit was adorned with yesterday? Just asking :-) . I like the half updo (always nice on her), the earrings and the hat with assorted florals on it. Not much else.

I think yes the garments may be from the same design house, but I’m confused by “megalomaniac”? A megalomaniac is someone with an unnaturally strong wish for power and control. So I’m lost in what your comment is trying to communicate?

Sorry. Basically I was making a bit of fun of those sleeves. Behind "megalo-" is an ancient Greek word "megas", that means 'big/large/huge'. And so "megalomania" means a delusion about - or striving for - greatness of any kind. Usually, only people behave like this, as you mentioned, persons who want might and power. I was just playing around by transferring "wanting might and power" to those big sleeves.

Beautiful colour dress, but she needs better foundation imo

Yes I agree, it would give her a better silhouette

Exactly. That's what I thought, too. She should wear better underwear, Camilla, who is 78, does it and it works, Stéphanie, who is much younger, would even profit better.
I liked her yellow dress best, it was classic, simple and elegant, then her pink pantsuit, third comes this green dress.

There is a saying "get out of their bedrooms" when the media is gossiping about politicians' private affairs. Analog to this: please get out of the underwear of royal ladies with a certain corpulence. It is tasteless. Maybe it helps if you just imagine you are Stephanie and it stands in the papers that your underwear is inadequate for holding your flesh together.

Thank you 6:58. I find it extraordinary that individuals here comment on the underwear of other women they don’t know.

Very nice dress but it would look even better with better underwear. I also like her hat with the green decorations. We don't often see her with a hat but it suits her a lot.

    1. I don’t always see the point of the ‘needs better undergarments’ comments but absolutely true here. A dress in a lovely colour is less than flattering because it exaggerates every lump and bump. Nice hat and hairstyle

I can’t believe no one told her before leaving home. MR

supportive spandex underwear would have been perfection!

I would be so upset if I were Stephanie reading that strangers were commenting on my underwear and imperfections. That’s not fashion, that’s highly personal. Basic respect for other women, let alone royalty, would suggest that this is something to not write down in a public comment!

Anon 12 57 I would be even more upset if I saw photo number 4 and would wonder why no one in my staff had suggested better underwear! I just hope she’s not seen that one

Dress doesn't fit,it's too tight. And it makes the grand- duchess to pompous. The colour is beautiful and her smile is always lovely and that compensates the dress fully

This is a prime example of how good undergarments can make or break a look. The style of the dress, is flattering as is the color. The hat is youthful and whimsical. But, it’s glaring obvious that the look needed, more structure underneath. This is wear a trained stylist would have been helpful.

Lovely green on Stephanie and the hat looks great although I prefer real hats with a proper crown rather than something flat that needs to be pinned. But I feel the dress would be 100% better with equal sleeves. Natan?????

The colour is great but the dress is a tad too short. She should avoid drapings around her waist/belly. The yellow dress (without the uneven hemline) was a better style for her. Boat necklines do not suit the GD. I like her green earrings. There are better hats than this one. The flowers on the hat are lovely and are not overdone, but the hat itself is too flat. She should go for the same hat type as the PoW (yellow hat), but maybe a bit smaller.

  10. The color of the dress is sublime. Imo the mid section is pulling, and the slight gather at her hip level, I feel is the issue. If the dress was more streamlined I feel the overall look would be more successful. Regardless of that she looks pretty. Her hair styled with the hat looks beautifully groomed, very attractive. Her hat suits her well. I do love the color of her shoes and clutch. The earrings not sure what they are, regardless look effective and of substance, I like them. Looks to be a gold necklace she is wearing not sure what it is. Lovely overall.

  11. In theory, the dress should be lovely - but it does cling to her body a bit too much, being such light fabric. The hat we’ve seen before and it’s fine, although somehow a little old-fashioned looking, it must be its crown.

I don’t want to criticise lovely Stéphanie, I like her too much! So I will just admire how summery and colourful she’s been recently, and mostly got it very right.

Soyez zen.

The green is a great color on Stephanie, but the fit of the dress is not the most flattering. I don’t like her hat - it looks like plastic flowers glued to it, although I imagine they are not plastic. I like her shoes and clutch.

Oh dear the draping to the side seam is not flattering. Perhaps if it stop just of center it falls nicer. As stated above in theory it should be a style she could wear. Perhpas in different fabric. Regardless she looks lovely in the colour,

It has to be Natan, the bad fit, the cheap looking material...

Why does the Royal ladies keep wearing Natan?

    ReplyDelete
  17. Sadly, this is by far the worst of the three looks she appeared in for National Day. Best was her yellow dress, then the pink jumpsuit, but this green (Natan?) thing is just not for her. The colour, yes, as per usual she does strong colours nicely, but for all else it should not be worn out in public again. The hat is the best part of the whole outfit.
