Both ladies in a boring dress. Amalia: far above her age ( as often): something youthfull and still a appropriate for the occasion : one would think that can be found.

Define "youthful". Alternatively, tell us what is *not* youthful in Amalia's dress. Maybe you just don't like it? Neither do I, but a simple wrap dress like this is age independently wearable. It would be nice not to have ageisms like this instead of something more substantial and to the point.

What is really boring is a comment consisting of "dress is boring" and meaning somehow "boring and old".

Ha! I came here to write the opposite: both ladies in really beautiful dresses, and both in very cooling blue shades for this warm summer week. I agree that Amalia often dresses more maturely than other girls her age… but her role and the scrutiny on her are very very different. I think these Diana von Furstenberg dresses work very well for women of all ages, and I like it very well on Amalia.

Business attire like a suit would have been more appropiate, but these dresses are best for a wedding or party.

I'll tell you what is not youthfull. First the print and colours of the dress. They are so sad. I understand she prefers to wear a dress now that we have still summer weather. Imagine the same dress in a plain color like cream or emerald green. It would be more age appropriate for CP Amalia.
Also Queen Maxima's dress is looking sad. First the color and secondly the transparant overlay which is too long compared to the dress underneath. Besides Queen Maxima is wearing a dress which looks a bit worn out. I know this dress is a rewear.

They walk perfectly on this heels. Don’t reflect your own walk on them… you wish you could walk like that

Grandma? If you’re speaking of a grandma like me? Cool, slim, trendy? Then yes indeed grandma dresses. On the other hand , a really offensive adjective as you use it. Grandma is a beautiful part of life and should not be a derogatory term!

Donot be so sensitive Anon 19:53: of course you can be fit and slenter and vital at an older age, but a Grandma -look wil always have this negative connotation because you are a priveliged minority: enjoy it!

Amalia est une belle jeune fille mais à mon humble avis, je trouve que ce modèle de robe ne l'a rajeunit pas du tout !

    1. Doesn't make Amalia look younger ? Why would she need that ? She is young. I think the dresses are ok for the occasion.

Love the DVF dress on Amalia--it's a timeless and beautiful style. Queen Maxima is wearing one of my favorite dresses in her closet. Both mother and daughter look fabulous!

  8. I feel Amalia's dress looks beautiful. Clear cut, simple lines, classic look. The skirt of her dress has nice swish! just enough to be flattering. I like the style, shape, design and color scheme. For this occasion this dress was highly suitable. Love the gold earrings and subtle necklace. Her shoes and clutch, great color.
The Queen looks nice, but I have a quibble. I don't like the underskirt shorter than the hem of her dress. Highly noticeable, very transparent. Personal taste obviously. I think she is wearing her pale blue aqua drop earrings. I'm not sure, is the clutch, shoes and hair thingy! green? in color.

@ Rosella - completely agree, except, at 22 I would have thought she would have developed her own style, to me she seems devoid of original ideas unlike her royal contemporaries.

@Anon 07:41 Perhaps at age 22, she has other priorities that are more important to her than magazine style fashion. I struggle to believe that her royal contemporaries (i.e. other royal 22 year olds who are Crown Princesses) have developed their own style at this age, as you suggest.
