On May 21, 2026, King Willem-Alexander, Queen Máxima, Princess Amalia, Princess Alexia, and Princess Ariane of the Netherlands attended the annual spring photo session in the Dutch Garden at the Clingendael Estate in The Hague. The garden, with its boxwood hedges and flower beds, was created in the early 20th century and inspired by 17th-century garden design.
For the occasion, Queen Máxima wore a chiffon outfit by Natan, Princess Amalia wore a yellow tweed cropped jacket by Maje Paris, Princess Alexia wore an olive green satin asymmetric draped midi dress by Reiss, and Princess Ariane wore pink and brown striped tapered-leg trousers by Essentiel Antwerp.

Oh que je n'aime pas cet ensemble rayé, c'est horrible ce je vais écrire...mais on dirait...'
ReplyDeleteEva, let the young lady be. It’s very poor form to criticise how young people look. It can be very harmful.
Deleteyes Ariane made no effort this time, even the shirt looks shabby! Even Maxima's top is not the best.
DeleteAmalia looks very stylish casual.
Alexia is very glamorous, perhaps going on a dinner date afterwards.
Eva and 18:33, these are awful comments. She’s a girl still. It is NOT ok to criticise a child for her looks.
Delete"Eva, let the young lady be. It’s very poor form to criticise how young people look. It can be very harmful."
DeleteShe's not neccessarily criticising how *she* looks but the clothes she chose and she's right. The pieces don't even look good on the model. But, I'm thinking that's the point. Young people her age don't want to look "stylish" in the true sense of the word. The current "look" is to look like you just fell out of bed and left the house as is. She has achieved the look. :-|
But they are not children anymore, they are adults!
DeleteMerci pour votre compréhension .
Delete20 ans ce n'est plus une enfant.
Annon 1830 the critique has nothing to do with the person it is the clothes. If they choose to wear outlandish clothes so be it, the comments may not be favourable , but they are directed to the clothes, like on the model. Ariana is a really cute girl her clothes not so cute.
DeleteAnon 18 30 and 20 37. Calm down, for goodness sake! Firstly, Princess Ariane is not a child. She’s 19 so an adult by any definition. Secondly, criticising clothes and saying they look awful is not a criticism of the person herself. It’s a criticism of her choice in clothes. In this case: I totally agree with Eva. The trousers are awful. At least she didn’t wear the matching shirt
DeleteOh, I wasn't going to comment because she may have done it on purpose to see the reaction. Sure enough, between your comments and the replies, enough has been written. Chris
DeleteSo you got the attention you were longing for, @ Eva 16:46.
DeleteDo you feel better now?
They don't have an iron in their palace...?
ReplyDeleteTheir best family pics in years - such a beautiful family.
ReplyDeleteI love how the young princesses have their own individual style. It’s refreshing to see them wear what feels good on them. They all look good.
ReplyDeleteLowri.
Great set of photos, each in their individual style. Not keen on the PJ look, not the Natan. love CA short white jacket very becoming with jeans and re Reiss suits Alexia especially with the belt.
ReplyDeleteThis time, none of the royal ladies strikes me as being elegant, maybe Alexia in her green dress.
ReplyDeleteNot so sure about some of these outfits … I’ll just say lovely family and leave it at that.

Maxima's hair looks really nice here. Not so sure about her outfit; it looks as though the top and bottom don't quite match. At least the trousers are a better length on her than on the model - ridiculously long there! I don't like Ariane's outfit at all, I'm afraid. She looks as if she's wearing a very old fashioned pair of pyjama bottoms. Amalia's jacket goes well with the jeans - smart/casual. It's much like the kind of jacket Queen Silvia would wear, without the jeans of course! Alexia's asymmetrical dress suits her - I've noticed she tends to pose more than the others. The colour of her accessories contrasts well with the green - not an easy colour to wear. The most important thing to me is, they seem a very happy family.
ReplyDeleteWhether I like the outfits or not, this much I will say: all three sisters are wearing things that correctly reflect their own individual style, character and personality. Of the three, I like Alexia's outfit the best. It looks smart and fun, and the boots, belt and bag work very well to give an edge for a casual yet formal look.
ReplyDeleteAmalia's jeans and cropped jacket are a nice idea. I'd have preferred narrower jeans to compliment her good figure as, to me, I think the wider jean legs make her look less streamlined however much in fashion they may be.
Ariane's outfit is my least favourite but I'm glad that the blouse redeems it slightly. The wide striped trousers give me a pyjama vibe, and the sleek satin top looks out of place paired with the trousers, though it is a lovely top. We know that she favours striped clothing as she wears them often so this is what I mean that each of the sisters have selected styles and outfits that match their taste and personality (fun, formal, and relaxed, starting with Amalia). There's a lot to be said for that.
Maxima looks lovely and I much prefer her style of the outfit without the cape compared to the model shown; the King looks very proud of his four ladies, as he rightly deserves to be.

They're a lovely but sloppily attire bunch.
ReplyDeleteJanet
Compared to her sisters, Alexia always looks as if she's making a statement. I'd like to ser this Young lady on a more relaxed atitude.
ReplyDeleteShe does make a statement, but why not? If they are happy to be different, I am happy with that too.
DeleteThis photo shoot happens once or perhaps twice (?) a year. There is plenty of time to prepare clothes that do not hang partially ticked into pants that look like pajamas. Maxima does manage to look coordinated and put together in a similar satin-type outfit. And jeans that actually flatter would be another good choice. It must be difficult to be photographed like this but, again, it’s infrequent, and protects them from many other intrusions all year long.
ReplyDeleteI do agree with Anonymous 21:02. They do know what their role is - to represent the state and the people - and they can't make an effort?
DeleteI do like especially Ariane as a person, and I believe that Maxima has a lovely personality, but I really don't understand what they were thinking here. Of course Alexia in her elegant Reiss-dress (great colour for her) is dressed up, she is the stunner and she knows it.
Poor choice of outfits. Especially Maxima's ill fitting Natan, but her hair looks good.
ReplyDeleteThe best I can say is they all look relaxed and happy. The king and Alexia are the only ones truly "dressed" imo. It will be interesting to see what these young ladies choose for wedding dresses when the time comes. Often that's the true tell of a woman's dressing personality.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful family and happy to see them so close. As for the fashion, each outfit has a place but it feels as though they are dressed for different weather, formality and occasion, so it feels somewhat distracting from their lovely faces.
ReplyDeleteThey look so happy together. And relaxed. Imagine putting out joyful photos like this and coming across criticisms by people they’ve never met before, such as several above.
ReplyDeleteCan't agreed more. Some of them might get wrong breakfast in the morning.
DeleteAnon. 22:24. When people make their photos public, they completely realise that these photos might be evaluated by some other people. And this evaluation is not neccesarily must be positive.
DeleteCouldn’t agree more 22:24. People these days criticise so heavily with no actual knowledge of the humans they are critiquing so harshly.
Delete... so you want only yes-people around? How boring...
DeleteI must say not the best-looking outfits. Maxima and Amalie look good. Alexis whatever she is wearing in MO not a good look. Ariana looks like she rolled out of bed and run with it. I am really a bit disappointed by it all.

You still don't know their names ? Alexia, Ariane, Amalia. It is simple, you just have to copy the names from the introduction under the 1st picture.
DeleteThey all look very nice. But every time I see this family together, I still think that Queen Maxima Is the true beauty. Am I allowed to say that I don’t know but that’s my thought.
ReplyDeleteAnon 0:09, you are giving Maxima credit despite maturing and time, not dismissing her for not being young. Your comment is acceptable IMO. Christine
DeleteOf course 00:09. It’s a very flattering comment.
DeletePersonally I don't like anything they're wearing, but that's ok. The beauty of the Dutch Royal family is they're all allowed to show their individuality.
ReplyDeleteAnd Catherine Amelia cut her hair. So much more modern! Queen Mary has also trimmed hers. Lets hope this trend continues.
Cinci
The name of the CP of the Netherlands is Catherina Amalia. You just have to copy it from the text under the 1st picture. Besides in The Netherlands everybody calls her Amalia. Catherina Amalia is her official name.
DeleteI love Alexia's look, its edgy and stylish, I love how she has put this together. The shawl, clutch, boots and belt, well combined. Amalia's jacket looks great, love the overall look, paired with her jeans, which fit well. Maxima, looks lovely. Ariana is wearing what makes her happy and more importantly appeals to her. She is young and adventurous, I admire this greatly, she is also showing her individualism. well done, young lady. Good for her. It shows from her demeanor she has a fun and happy outgoing nature, she has such a beautiful smile, I love this!
ReplyDeleteIf any of the readers don't like her outfit, that is more than fine, we all have different and varied tastes, but it doesn't hurt the soul or heart to be nice, in your comments of this impressive young lady/princess, thank you.
It is Spring, it's acceptable to wear new colors and color combos. I like the colors of Ariane's outfit. The brown looks like copper on this monitor. They all look nice. Maria
ReplyDeleteUntil TODAY weather was not what you can expect from Spring in our part of Europa, so no objection about the boots ; you can also see them in summer in other colors... I would say that Amalia adapts herself remarkably to her position.
DeleteI think that Anon.07:06 comment about boots is relevant. MaryT, what kind of weather must be there in your part of Europe, if a person wears heavy suede boots and a light sleeveless (at least one sleeve) dress?
DeleteThey look a very happy family and very loving towards each other. Fashion style they are all very much their own people in this family it seems. Not like the Spanish Royal Family, where the Mother seems to push and pull them around with a very stern face. Very sad.
ReplyDeleteVery different situation in The Netherlands than in Spain. No comparison possible.
DeleteJ’envoie mon commentaire non revenu :
ReplyDeleteJe ne parlerai pas d’élégance mais plutôt d’un manque de goût !
Does anyone know if they have a stylist and if so, what’s the name of that person?
ReplyDeleteThat stylist prefers to stay anonymously. For obvious reason.
DeleteThe Dutch Royals are known for their - at times - rather unconventional choice of wardrobe. But that is exactly what makes it so fun to watch. Who will appear in what? Will Queen Maxima wear an oversized hat to a relatively low-key business engagement, will she look as flamboyant as usual? Will Princess Laurentien (not in this photoshoot, however, happy 25th wedding anniversary to her and Prince Constantijn) step out in something very boho? Will the three girls (or one of them, or two of them) wear something that might raise eyebrows? It is seldom boring to follow them. So, they hardly disappoint in the entertaining department. Yes, we might find fault in their fashion picks, perhaps particularly with them more than with other royals on the more conservatively dressed side. But, again, boredom is scarce when looking at them. Princess Ariane in "Pyjamas"? It seems to give the impression, however, the blouse is made of a satin material, and the trousers are described as "carot shape", so it might be an upcoming trend. Princess Alexia in boots in late spring but else in a sleeveless dress? Yeah, the weather was not exactly springlike in many parts of Europe, including the Netherlands, recently. She could have picked the dress earlier, assuming the weather would be nicer, and paired it with the boots when it became clear that the day would be cloudy and temperatures not high. Princess Amalia in a strange combo (wide legged jeans and a cropped jacket)? Could've been worse. Looks fine to me. Queen Maxima in ill-fitting Natan again? Come on, we all should know her by now. No big surprises here. Seems only King Willem-Alexander can do no harm fashionwise. Or will do only rarely so. Well, that was fun to comment on, for sure.
ReplyDeleteThis spring and summer the Barrel pants are the latest fashion. In many collections one can see stripes as well in pants, shirts and dresses..... The Orange family are always the first to wear something new.
ReplyDelete🥳🥳🥳🤪
ReplyDeleteI'm becoming rather concerned about Ariane's sense of style.
