Having worked in global health in Geneva, I can say that all 3 outfits fit in very well there.

Good looks of Sophie - she represents the royal family well.

I like the lilac pantsuit on the Duchess, although I think the jacket could be a little shorter; it doesn't show off her figure at this length. Love the Matelier dress, especially with the shawl. It's appropriate for an evening event. Not so sure about the navy dress; a contrasting belt would be better, maybe tan, with a tan purse. I see she's wearing different shoes for inside and outside - both look good with the dress.

Well now what do we have here but 3 lovely looks. The suit nice colour blue, she is wearing the perfect blouse for her with a little ruffle at the neck and cuffs, sits nicely in the opening. The long dress, seems to be the trend in Europe fits well and the last dress very good length on her and of course the colour is a nice deep shade she wears well.

    1. Edinburgh is the capital city of Scotland, so part of UK. The title ‘of Edinburgh’ was first given to Prince Frederick, grandson of George I, the first Hanoverian king of Britain. On his death, the title passed to his son George, who subsequently became King George III, when the title ceased to exist. Alfred, the second son of Queen Victoria was granted the title and as his only son died before him, the title reverted to the crown until it was granted to Prince Philip. On his death in 2021, by laws of succession, it passed to his eldest son Charles. Shortly after Charles became King, the title was given to Prince Edward, in accordance with Prince Philip’s wishes

A short comparison with the jacket buttoned up (with both buttons) shows that this is either not the right size for Sophie or not the right fit. She closed only one button (photo 1) and the second one she could not have closed even if she wanted it, the two sides of the jacket just pull away from each other. She should leave it open because the first photo is not really convincing. Same applies to the untidy--messy neckline of the blouse but this is almost always the case. I am so disappointed exactly because she is such a nice person. I stop here because ... I don't like the rest either. Fashionwise really hopeless.

I think VB clothes are designed for much taller women and these longer length jackets do not flatter Sophie. She is looking lovely and much slimmer these days, but her outfits are just the wrong side of dowdy for my liking. Unlike one commenter above I love the coloured dress but feel the shawl ruins the look and a different solution to keep her warm would have been better. The blue dress would look better shorted and as someone else suggested with a contrasting belt and perhaps a lovely brooch to break up the blue. She is such a beautiful woman and spends a lot of money on clothes which are so nearly fabulous! IMO LRB

… you don’t like them on her … or you don’t like long dresses? I think they look lovely on her and she obviously enjoys them. Here in the Emilia Wickstead dress is an example where a longer hem line (on Sophie) looks better than the short one (on the model).

    2. I like long dresses, this Matelier dress is really beautiful on model, but on Sophie it doesn't work in that way. Nothing wrong if she wears them - she is still lovely but for me they are not made for her to look her best. In this blue suit she is smashing! Well, we see things differently, nothing wrong with that, is it?

Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, is a beautiful lady. I love her outfits in Geneva. The off-white suit fits her perfectly and looks very professional. I also like the evening party dress and the navy blue dress (although there will definitely be some commentators who will complain about the length). It's hard to believe that Sophie is 61 years old.

    1. I agree with all your comments, Stephanie, and in my view, while the blue dress is long, she can actually just get away with it.

Women of 61 years old these days are not looking old. They are still at work. In my country and maybe in other countries of the European union women can be retired at the age of about 65 years old. Some must continue to work until the age of 67 years old, if they wish to receive a pension for a full carreer.

Well I love pantsuits but this one buttons odd not a fan. It's the Emilia Wickstead dress that's not flattering not her figure in my opinion. The Matelier dress I like.

Well… 23:17 … Great Britain is the island name. So technically Scotland is on Great Britain - and part of the country called UK. UK is no longer part of the EU so many will say no longer part of Europe … but I think you’re right that Great Britain is an island of the continent of Europe. Geography is alive and changing!

The UK is still a european country and that can and will never change. The Europian Union is not the same as Europe. Swizerland, Iceland, Norway and UK are not members of the Union, but still europian countries.
      Even Russia is in Europe.

  16. The Navy EW pleated dress is lovely, suits the Duchess's shape, the swish and movement of the skirt of the dress is very flattering. The blue pantsuit looks splendid, fitting well and nice design again suiting her body shape well. She looks stylish and professional. The Micenas Dress looks very attractive and appeals to me.

The blue suit is fine and I like that the floral dress is not all pastel colors. The EW dress is the best fit IMO since it has structure and clean lines. I like the nude shoes and matching belt to keep the look streamlined and modern.

Give the duchess a break, please, I think her look has become more streamlined recently, the dark blue dress, for example, is worn just like on the model, does it really need improving? Although I favour regal accessories, Sophie is not the queen or a queen consort, so that the expectations are not the same, and she knows that. The remark that she is sartorially hopeless is extremely unfair. Her evident lack of vanity and her overall sincerity are valuable tools for the monarchy
and I always enjoy looking at her, whether her hems are long or short etc.

Navy blue dress - wonderful for DE, though I'd prefer something to break the colour, a belt perhaps? Evening dress - without peplum I believe it would be better, Light blue suit - perfect colour, worse tailoring

  22. Anonymous25/5/26 21:10

A little tailoring would have made the first and last outfits so much better. Good quality and design, but for a person 3-4 inches taller than she is. Unclear if anything would have improved the second outfit.

I often wonder why women like dresses which make them look older than they are or like a nun or a 19th-20th centuries governess ?
