Queen Mathilde of Belgium is leading the Belgian Economic Mission to Türkiye from May 10 to 14, 2026. The Queen is participating in activities scheduled for May 10, 11, and 12. Queen Mathilde arrived in Istanbul on May 10, where she was ceremonially welcomed at the Istanbul Airport State Guest House by Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir.
Later, First Lady Emine Erdoğan welcomed Queen Mathilde at the entrance of the Ceremonial Hall of Dolmabahçe Palace in Istanbul. After posing for the press at the Crystal Staircase, the First Lady and the Queen proceeded to the Medhal Hall for their meeting. Emine Erdoğan later toured the Century-Old Elegance exhibition, organized by the Institute of Maturation, together with Queen Mathilde.
The First Lady also presented Queen Mathilde with a brooch featuring honeysuckle, chrysanthemum, and tulip motifs, handcrafted over the course of a week by instructors from the Institute of Maturation using traditional needle lace and embroidery techniques.
First Lady Emine Erdoğan and Queen Mathilde also viewed garments from the Anatolia collection designed by Turkish fashion designer Özgür Masur at Dolmabahçe Palace. The 100-piece collection was created following a three-year research process conducted at women’s institutes across Anatolia, reinterpreting the region’s traditional production techniques and fabrics through contemporary designs.

The camera's perspective is in more than one photo quite bad, looking upwards. For someone with beautiful long legs, this perspective makes them look as if wandering on stilts. How can they choose such a bad perspective? But, independently from the photographer's fault, Mathilde's two-piece in pink is not really favourable for her - at least from the waist upwards. The top is just a lot of fabric pulled together at the waist, at the neckline and at the wrist - more than this is not offered here, as if made in a hurry, no time for design and fitting. She an do so much better - as the first ensemble with black pants and patterned jacket (thankfully without lapels) shows.
ReplyDeleteShe is such a lovely lady, always warm and no red carpet manners like some other queens. Her new hairstyle suits her perfectly, it’s fresh and modern.
ReplyDeleteI like all the outfits of all the three ladies. I find the cream outfit with deep red head covering worn by the Minister of Family and Social Services particularly stylish and attractive. Mathilde looks lovely in both her outfits.
