On May 19, 2026, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima paid a regional visit to the municipalities of Maasgouw, Echt-Susteren, Roerdalen, and Roermond in the Central Limburg region near the border with Belgium and Germany. The couple were accompanied by Emile Roemer, the King’s Commissioner in the province of Limburg.
The regional visit began in Wessem, where the King and Queen received a musical welcome from local music associations and the marksmen’s guild. The Royal Couple then visited the village of Illikhoven in the municipality of Echt-Susteren. Afterwards, the Royal Couple paid a visit to Lilbosch Abbey. For the regional visit, Queen Máxima wore a burgundy short-lined dress with a gathered waist by the fashion house Natan, which she first wore in 2017.

I like this dress with the visible slip and all. I think this is a shawl with Kasmiri work she received when she met with the Indian PM recently.
ReplyDeleteI love the colours of Maxima's outfit, but I think the hat is too big and hides her lovely face. I also think the lining of the dress could be a bit longer, although she has good legs! The shawl is gorgeous and everything goes well together. Kia
ReplyDeleteDit doorschijnende geval met de te korte rok eronder en ook nog eens in combinatie de naaldhakken staat potsierlijk, nee jammer hoor, gedateerd en weg ermee.
ReplyDeleteEen spinnenweb jurk.
DeleteDat herdragen terwijl het zo gedateerd uitziet. Waarom?
Praat geen poep
DeleteI understand that people may have different opinions about Queen Máxima, but some of the comments here (from the same Dutch people) are unnecessarily disrespectful and personal. Healthy discussion is fine, but basic respect should still apply.
DeleteI would also kindly ask the moderator to step in and address comments that cross the line into insults or harassment, so the conversation can remain civil for everyon

I agree 20:21. Increasingly quite disparaging comments are written in Dutch by apparently the same few girls. They are not ok.
Delete@ 21:13
DeleteHow do you know it are girls who wrote this ?
Ach je bent er weer…
Delete@20.21 She does the same on other blogs. Always disrespectful. She thinks she know everything and doesnt like Maxima. It’s really sad for her she is always negative. Sorry for her. Wish her more joy and happiness. She needs it.
DeleteIt's a beautiful ensemble in an amazing colour but for a kind of working visit imv too dressed-up

Quite overdressed, isn't she ...
ReplyDeleteYes she is !!
DeleteOverdressed compared to whom? She does the honor and demonstrates her respect towards the citizens of the municipalities she visits . It is part of the respect to dress correspondingly and the dress is not an evening gown. If someone does not like big hats, it is their problem - she wears them like not many women can.
DeleteNo she isnt for an offcial visit. What ahould she wear then Mary??? I hope you can tell me
DeleteThe dress is still surprisingly good and charming, as is the hat, but she definitely has to get rid of those ridiculous high heels, they donot add to the charm, make it less.
ReplyDelete@ Anonymous 16:15
DeleteAre you saying the same when Q. Mary or the P. of Wales are wearing high heels ?
Anon 18;35: it is the total silhouette that counts and in this case also the age of the wearer. Less high is more dignified imo.
Delete@ 20:37
DeleteThe age of the wearer ? There are Queens and Princesses who are younger and are dressed like old women. There are also Queens and Princesses who are older and are dressed youthful and are looking very good with heels and big hats. Better a bit overdressed than a lot underdressed.
All very nice, though I am not keen on such a large hat. Certainly a different fabric which has a modern twist.
ReplyDeleteMaxima, people would like to see your face when you come to visit them !!

ReplyDeleteMisschien een mooie taak voor u ;-)
DeleteAnybody who can walk on cobblestones in stiletto heels has my total admiration. The slip needs to be six inches longer, but the colours and fabrics in the outfit are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteLove the dress and the shawl but the hat is tooooo large.

This dress is from 2016. According a Dutch website it was fashion then to wear a dress in a transparent fabric with a shorter slip. Afterwards Queen Maxima wore similar dresses in lace or other transparent fabrics with shorter slips underneath. Today was again a grey day with sometimes a bit rain and maximum temperatures of about 13°C. I must always admire Queen Maxima and Queen Mathilde that they can go out in light summer dresses on a colder spring day. The hat protects her also when it starts raining.
ReplyDeleteLimburg is a province in The Netherlands. It has a common border with the Belgian province of Limburg with the same name.
It’s a pretty dress, but the lining of the skirt should be longer to avoid the transparent effect. The shoes are stunning.
ReplyDeleteI don't like the hat ; it's too wide and hides his face.
Maxima est superbe dans l'association Bordeaux de sa robe jusqu'à une étole avec un chapeau trop grand ; j'adore ses magnifiques talons !

Love the hat. Hats are so much fun not to mention the very best way to lovely older skin. I’d love to see them back in fashion for all.
ReplyDeleteQueen Maxima at her best. The hat is amazing, on the large side certainly, but she can pull it off. Shoes are fab as usual. The colour and style of the dress are good. A great look altogether
ReplyDeleteMaxima looks great.
ReplyDeleteI like it all - the dress style, the colour, the shoes and the beautiful pashmina. aAl these coordinate so well with each other. As for the hat, few people other than Max can wear a hat of this style and size and still look great, so I say 'go for it!" She was made to wear big hats and does so with charm and character.

Maxima n'est jamais too much. C'est Maxima, la plus belle reine intelligente et toujours souriante
ReplyDeletePosts not published in a public blog space, how are some negative thoughts, or views published, and others which are more negative published. Guess that is the reason a lot of the people do not write anything anymore, too much favoritism going on. :(
ReplyDeleteGreat color dress. This hat IMO is just a little too big. I normally like Maxima in big hats; it just looks too big for me.

Beautiful ensemble, well groomed and stylish. I personally like the under slip the same length as the dress hem, regardless she looks stunning. Love the color of her accessories. The shawl is a nice touch. She suits this hat, beautifully. Love her shoes. How wonderful to see the children so excited and welcoming, I love this! The Queen is very engaging, happy and enthusiastic as she always is. Its so refreshing to see.
ReplyDeleteI don’t think she is over-dressed; she is dressed like a woman who wants to honor her hosts by making the effort to look nice!!
ReplyDeleteThe dress does not fit well across the bust and midriff, the style of shorter underskirt is rather passe, the plastic sided shoes are definitley past their time and look cheap, the hat is ridiculously large - actually prevents interaction with those she meets but does hide the hair - shiny tights are awful. The pashmina is nice but adds nothing to the look especially in the last photo. Unlike others I will not give the platitude of all can be overlooked because of her exuberabnce/smile etc..
ReplyDeleteAt first I did not like the dress much but I have changed my mind. I agree the hat like quite a few of her hats would benifit by being at least 4cm smaller all round. I like those hats but they are just a step too big.
DeleteThat pashmina is not there to improve the look 08:05 but for warmth in our crazy unpredictable weather. Very easy to slip on and off as needed when the sun, the rain and the wind keep changing their minds which one is going to appear.
I totally agree with the statement; " Unlike others I will not give the platitude of all can be overlooked because of her exuberance/smile etc."
DeleteEverything is too.. too. Hat too large, heels too high, King's pants too long, his jacket too tight. Don't they have fashion advisors?
ReplyDeleteLove this outfit except the shoes I think. They look quite cheap to me.. or I mean they downgrade the outfit... nice suede shoes would have been nice
ReplyDeleteI do not think people in the comments should tell the person who runs this site what comments he\she should publish. If you do not like comments, maybe scroll on. Or run your own blog. I assume criticism of Maxima is allowed here because the comments appear.
ReplyDeleteTreu but when I am critical about Mary they are not shown
