Why is Duchess Sophie standing apart from the rest ? Nothing to mention about their outfits. The same as every year.

She’s not. Have another look. The three at the back are equally spaced, and the King and Queen are standing in front. It’s quite formal and also a real privilege for all to be there. The outfits are not the same as last year, but the tradition holds. I urge you to either take a closer look and enjoy this fun tradition where ordinary people get the huge joy of an invitation to a glamourous traditional garden party - or perhaps look elsewhere for your fashion joy?

I had the same thought initially, but I think it is just the camera angle. Upon taking a closer look at the picture, it appears to me there are 3 people (Anne, Edward, Sophie) standing behind the King and Queen, and those 3 are evenly spaced apart from each other.

      She’s not. Look again.

No, you are wrong. It is not the same every year. In past years Sophie has worn lavender, pastel pink, blue, pink checked, floral, and yellow. That is hardly the same.

@ 00:57 With the same I meant the same style as usual. Also the men.
@ 10:59 You suggested me to look elsewhere for my fashion joy. Oh, but I do. It is not here one has to look to see fashion. The Beulah dress is a rewear (DoE has this dress since how many years ? 5 ?). All the other British royal ladies have the same dress by Beulah but in another color and with no frills on the sleeves. The dress by Self portrait is the same dress type the PoW wore a couple of years ago or even longer . She has one in off/white or light beige and one with short sleeves in light green. Now she bought another one with polka dots on the skirt. Nobody wears polka dots anymore.

All 4 ladies look elegant and appropriate in their individually chosen styles of dresses and hats. The colours they have chosen are perfect for each lady as well. All routine wear, and nothing out of the ordinary (sadly).

On n’avait pas vu Camilla aux Bermudes, c’est sa première apparition depuis son voyage us USA qui a dû lui prendre toute son énergie. Elle est splendide dans cet ensemble et ce bleu lui va ã merveille. Josée.

  4. The Queen's pale blue coatdress is stunning, very interesting features adding interest. She looks very elegant. She wears these types of hats beautifully.
Sophie looks beautiful, her dress suits her well.
Brigitte looks fabulous, her pearl necklace looks great at the neckline of the coat, they are a good size of substance. The Princess Royal looks very good here, very elegant.

Imho the length looks good on this occasion.
The D of G looks polished as always and I love her pearls.

I agree with 03:59 - a lovely start to the garden party season. Nice to see the lady guests are adding to the fun with a variety of hats/fascinators.

D of E Sophie's dress is uneven and too long. Even Q. Camilla and P. Anne as older ladies are wearing coats/dresses which have a better length.

“Too long” according to ?!?!! Your taste? That’s ok too. But I think she really likes longer hemlines and that this is very similar to the designer’s idea for the dress - and then we take into account Sophie’s proportions where the hem will sit lower than a typical endlessly leggy professional fashion model.

  9. Love the giggling ladies speaking to Queen Camilla in the last pic. Seems they had fun and enjoyed the afternoon. Regarding the fashion - just what you'd expect to see for a BP Garden Party. All well dressed for the occasion.

I’m starting to recognise your comments! Often or is it even always? you don’t seem to enjoy the fashion you’re seeing here. Is there anything positive you can comment on… ?

I know Duchess Sophie has had this hat in her collection for some time. I think it pairs well with her dress.
QC I like the light blue, it’s a flattering color on her.
    DoG As always elegant.
PA As with the DoG elegant in an unassuming manner.

Everyone looks great. The king is a phenomenal dresser. I love that color on Sophie. She’s with that Beulah dress before and the color and fit suit her so well.

The model has the right length of the Beulah dress, but Sophie is not as tall as the model. Consequence: A seamstress, sure to be found in the royal household, could have made it shorter and the unevenness of the hem (shorter at the front) disappear.

The Princess Royal and the Duchess of Gloucester are best dressed for me this time. Nothing exciting, but everything where it belongs, hemline ends where it should and what I appreciate very much: Pearl necklace to upgrade not too much, but a little bit and with such a good effect, whatever you wear. Camilla: Baby blue is, for me, not a good colour for her and I don't like the hat : being big and at an angle is enough, the uneven top is just too much. Sophie: that impression of carelessness with the too long hemline, this time also a bit lopsided, could have been avoidable without too much hassle.

I don’t think Sophie’s hem is uneven. The photo is taken on an angle and from beneath which has changed the perspective. Her hemline is not dissimilar to the model, taking into account Sophie is not a model and has shorter legs. Not remotely careless- but dressing to the event dress code while also wearing what she feels comfortable in. I don’t think it’s fair to ask more!

I actually thought at first glance, wow, this blue is ideal for Camilla, and the hat is an absolute stunner! Goes to show how wide our opinions can be in fashion wot!

Oh this has become the least enjoyable of all comments on this blog. We have to let people remain in control of their own lives … ah especially when they are complete strangers to us and we have no input into their lives … and stop DARING to say about a QUEEN that we find their taste so bad that they NEED a new stylist! The most ridiculous comment and I see it over and over on this blog.

Nice day for this very festive occasion - great photos. Agree that Pr . Anne and Duchess of Gloucester are always elegant and unassuming in their attire and presence. Their grace is so natural. Unlike Sophie, whose fashions look like she tries too hard and misses.
