For the occasion, the Princess of Wales wore a lilac dress. She was also wearing the Bahrain Pearl Drop Earrings, a favorite heirloom inherited from Queen Elizabeth II, which she has worn on several occasions, including the Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey in March. I like this dress or coat dress on Camilla. Her dress is a lighter navy but it doesn't matter. I'm not a fan of most of Emilia Wickstead dresses but the color is good on this one on the POW. It's too loose up top. Sophie looks like she's going to a different event, but I like the dress. The Duchesses of Glo looks good in red. Prs Anne wears a nice coat. Good to see the Duke of Kent and Princess Alexandra who looks lovely.

The DoE seems rather casually dressed for this event. It's not a bad outfit - just not event appropriate.

The DoE - what was she thinking. Looks like she's wearing her morning gown

I think she was probably thinking, well this dress is lovely, I enjoy wearing it and it will be perfect for the event.

These thoughts are plausible to me and nobody told her about the morning gown-look, unfortunatelly.

The style of Catherine’s dress is pretty, but I don’t think this particular color of lilac suits her the best. The shirtwaist style of Sophie’s dress looks a bit casual for the event. I like the tailored elegance of the Duchess of Gloucester’s red suit. Camilla and Anne both look appropriately attired and much the same as usual. Kudos to the Duke of Kent and Princess Alexandra for attending and for their steadfast service to their nation and the monarchy.

The Duchess of Edinburgh is wearing a beautiful duster.
I like the Princess of Wales' lilac dress. But she is copying the shoulders of Queen Camilla's dresses : shoulder pads are placed to far on the outside of the armhole to create wider shoulders, which is not beautiful. Queen Camilla's dress is not too bad this time and she is wearing again the beautiful black shoes she wore yesterday. The beautiful red coat worn by the Duchess of Gloucester is ruined by the brown suede boots.

A weird idea to have a birthday party for someone who is passed away.

    1. But then why not? I've learned that the late Queen as well as Diana still are very popular. William and Catherine also.

Well it’s a memorial - a time to get together and fondly remember someone they have loved. How is that weird? Is it not lovely? But now you mention it, I think a full on birthday party for someone who is dead but you have loved is a super idea! Thank you.

A very Beautifull dress wears the queen. Princess Anne also so very good.
The Princess of Wales wears a good dress but looks somehow ill at easyJet. Sophie wears, alas, an absolute miss: not suitedeur for the festival occasion and fàààr too long.

Sophie does not look well. I do hope she is okay. Maybe the colour of the dress this is not her colour. She is a Summer toning, white should look better on her with her blue eyes or something in blue.

  9. The family group picture is priceless. So glad that the Duke of Kent and his sister, Princess Alexandra, had been able to make it. Is Prince Michael so poorly off that he truly could not attend? Bummer. Fabulous event to celebrate the life and legacy of Her Late Majesty QE II. Plus her wonderful dress exhibition just next door in the King's Gallery.

Love the waist detail on the Queen’s coat.
PR and DoG both look really nice in outfits that fit well and show their personalities.
Same comment as others on DoE, which is the dress is much more casual than what the other royals are wearing.
POW’s dress is okay but I think the pearl necklace ruins the whole look. Understand that it’s probably worn to match QEII’s pearl earrings, but the necklace doesn’t work and looks cheap.
The men look very handsome and it’s great to see several of the older royals in attendance.

The princess of Wales is regal and respectful and is wearing lovely pearls that belonged to the late queen. The queen‘s jewellery looks cheap? I suggest you refresh your lacking memory.

      @ Virginia
The pearls the princess of Wales is wearing did not belong to Queen Elizabeth II. It has been explained on this blog why Princess Catherine bought these "cheap pearls" herself. The exact story behind it, I can't explain because I have forgotten what the reason was.

  15. Sophie, please hire a tailor to shorten you dresses and skirts. I love stripes and the length shown on the model makes the dress splendid. The raspberry sherbet colour and style of Kate's dress is beautiful. The pearl necklace is perfect, Camilla also looks very regal with the silver embellishment on the waistline and sleeves of her navy outfit.

      Hi Sandra.
I agree with you that Sophie needs to have a lot of her dresses and skirts shortened.
I' m sure she could afford to.
The dress Sophie wore today is ridiculously too long and I would that it is too casual for the event.
      Cheers. Cate.

It shows how overly long Duchess Sophie’s dress is,she’s having to gather it up like she would an evening gown,to climb the steps. It make no sense her need to wear items that look ludicrously too long or too big.
Catherine is looking painfully thin, and this dress does absolutely nothing for her. The color washes her out. The style has the dress hanging on her. I would have thought for today an effort could have been made to style her hair, and make a little effort with makeup. Catherine for me has lost the attention to detail. I get the vibe of ‘this will do’. She is a beautiful woman, but of late she’s lost her style mojo.
I’m not overly keen on Camilla’s choice. I think it’s the stark white lace at the mid-riff.
For me the best dressed are Princess Anne & the DoG.

Camilla’s coat appliqué are reminiscent of QEII outfits. DofG love the red suit but the suede boots a miss for me. Catherine’s dress is a nice style for her, the lilac not so much. The necklace is pretty but the long hair as an accessory takes way from the overall polished look. Princes Anne, great in her retro outfit. The group photo shows how slimmed done the monarchy is.

The d of e dress has riding boots on it in a zigzag pattern honouring the late queens love of horses so its totally appropriate for the party.

  20. I liked what DoE wore. The diamond and ruby earrings, very attractive. The silvery black pearl necklace, how I love this piece!
I don't find Sophie's dress appealing, I like longer dresses but this is even too long for me tastes. Her jewellery is boring and lack lustre. I would so love to see her wear a single strand pearl necklace from the late Queen's collection, I don't think she is really a jewellery lady somehow.
The Princess Royal is the stand out here, love her beautiful jacket and matching scarf, she has worn this outfit before, very elegant. Wearing the Late Queen's 3 strand pearl necklace, its the perfect length, she looked smashing, gorgeous colors of this outfit.
Catherine looks lovely in this Lilac color, very soft and feminine. She is also wearing the Late Queen's 3 strand pearl necklace, lovely to see her wearing this piece. The Bahrain pearl earrings are quite beautiful.
How marvelous to see Princess Alexanda, what a elegant Princess. She looked so lovely.

Sophi this is a summer dress to walk in the countryside and much much too long like always. I think the princess if Wales should change her dtyle a bit. These long slim fit dresses and coats makes her waist extra small. I would say every piece of clothing a bit shorter and here and there somewhat more volume. Camilla looks wonderful

I love blue on HM and I like this style on her. However, I think a silver thread instead of white on the applique would be better. She looks beautiful in this, though!
I think it's lovely that people got together in what looks like a very warm and intimate event.
God bless HMQEII. We all miss her.

Whilst no one looks bad, I don’t particularly like any of the outfits. Camilla’s dress is fine, a little wintry and out of season for April. Kate looks also fine, nothing to write home about. Colour of the dress is the best feature, cut isn’t great for her and the pearls (regardless of the homage to the late Queen) aren’t helping the overall look, seem just thrown on top cause the earrings have pearls. Sophie thought she is going to a casual lunch, Anne has never been stylish and here’s another example (but of course, she doesn’t care). Dog is usually better dressed than this combo of brown boots and thick dark red suit. Could have been an excellent occasion for a better showing.
