On April 27, 2026, King Willem-Alexander, Queen Máxima, and their three daughters—Princess Amalia, Princess Alexia, and Princess Ariane—as well as Prince Constantijn and Princess Laurentien, attended the 2026 King’s Day (Koningsdag) celebrations in Dokkum. Along the route, the royal family was introduced to Frisian traditions and customs and tried a typical Frisian sport, kaatsen.
King’s Day is a national holiday in the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Celebrated on April 27 (or, if that date falls on a Sunday, on April 26), it marks the birth of King Willem-Alexander. For the occasion, Queen Máxima wore a yellow dress by Natan, Princess Amalia wore a red suit by Max Mara, Princess Alexia wore a red satin dress by Helsa, and Princess Ariane wore a lace blouse and trousers by Twinset Milano.

DeleteAnd you know this because you know them personally? Wow, talk about prejudiced conclusions. The only factual information you wrote is that, yes Amalia is the crown princess. Just because one smiles more than another does not mean one is full of herself and the other is friendly. It could be their personalities. One may be more shy and the other more outgoing.

DeleteI don´t want to rate or compare anyone´s beauty (publicly), but I can see what Coralie means. Ariane comes across as very natural, laid-back and approachable. She seems nice and fun. Alexia rarely truly smiles, instead she often poses and borders on looking annoyed. She might still be nice and fun, but the impression I get from seeing her in photos (over the years, not just these ones) is what it is. Amalia carries herself with poise and exudes sincerity, but still looks approachable and friendly. She is more comfortable and confident than a few years ago, and that is great to see. Most interesting to me is that the three sister are so distinctly different - in their looks, in their nature (from what we can tell), in their demeanor and their way they relate to and interact with the public. You wouldn´t know they´re sisters. And honestly, none of they resemble either of their parents particularly much.

DeleteI would have agreed with you about Alexia being the prettiest a few years ago, but now I think Amalia beats her easily in the beauty stakes. She also seems to be much more at ease in the public eye and carries herself well without the posing that Alexia appears to prefer.
All three sisters are beautiful in their individual ways and it does no good to compare their looks. I think they all look wonderful!

ReplyDeleteDuring the news bulletin I saw on TV, King Willem Alexander was good and fast on the ice. One could see he used to practice this sport since he was a kid. From the other family members we didn't see much.

DeleteI remember I saw pictures of Queen Maxima and King Willem Alexander when they were just married or even before where he learned her how to do ice skating.
Well done all of them. My only quibble is when Alexia poses with the dropped shoulder for a family photo. On her own no problem, it is just so overdone by many high profile ladies, and not natural.
ReplyDeleteThe king and queen are such good sports. Agreeing to put on ice skates in such a dress is wonderfully good natured. I think the outfit that the youngest princess has on is very good for such a varied day of activities.
ReplyDeleteWhat an enormous outfit Maxima is wearing because of this long coat. The colourcombination camel.and yellow is really nice. But the dress of this thin see through fabric is too much for a visit like this imv. I loke the pant suit of Amalia and Alexia is well dressed too
ReplyDeleteAriane has such a sweetness, gentle manner and personality. She seems so engaging and friendly, cracker smile. Queen Maxima looks gorgeous cape coat and matching hat. I love her enthusiasm, she assimilates to all manner of situations and this is no different, she participated and engaged, smiling and happy, I just love this! I love the green color of the outfit Laurentien, is wearing, though the pants especially a bit too baggy for my liking, but that is just me! She is participating as well, equally love it!
ReplyDeleteI read that they were dressed in the regional colours of the place they were visiting, love that attention to detail. The girls are each beautiful but different to one another. Its always nice to see the extended family too. I am not Dutch but get a sense of joy and fun watching this family. WA also looking good - happy birthday to him!
ReplyDeleteMaxima, Amalia et Alexia me font penser à un bouquet de tulipes ! J'aime bien leurs tenues. Le chemisier d'Ariane serait plus joli et mieux en valeur avec un simple pantalon en jean, je n'aime pas tellement le pantalon en dentelle qui fait un peu pyjama. Paloma.

DeleteHope they have lots of fun today. I like Maximas's dress, but the hat is a bit too big. Amalia and Alexis look lovely. Arianas suit is OK for a young girl. I like the top not so much the pants.

ReplyDeleteLove Queen Maxima’s big hat and cape. Immer not so keen on the yellow dress. The Princess of Orange looks wonderful and I like Princess Laurentien’s bright green suit. Princess Ariana’s outfit is a bit too like pyjamas for me but she’s young enough to get away with something a bit different. Princess Alexia looks like she doesn’t want to be there. All the action shots are brilliant from the skating to the ball games. Terrific

ReplyDeleteThe cape outfit and sombrero is ridiculous if one was to participate in `sports` activities, the Natan creation is quite ugly in style and more suited for a cocktail party, Alexia wearing boots - other royals are so criticised for doing so even when it is winter. I agree, `an undefined mess`.
@22:11 - the colours of Friesland are blue,white and red. Dokkum is known for a blue yarn, and the flag is blue,white,red witha yellow stripe - not beige.
ReplyDeleteThe outfits were not appropriate for the different activities they had to do. If you are going to Friesland (Fryslan) you know that you probably have to do some ice skating even if it is not freezing. Especially Queen Maxima's transparant dress is not the most practical outfit to do ice skating. King W.A. at least changed clothes (picture N°7). I think he is the only in the family who knows how to take part in an ice skating race. He also, when he was younger, took part in "The Elfsteden tocht" (11 cities race in Friesland). Since the winters are not cold enough during the last decades, this race doesn't take place anymore. The rivers must be frozen completely before a race can take place.

CP Amalia is the best dressed. Princess Alexia is wearing a dress which is excellent during a hot summer. Now she must wear a jacket to hav warm enough. She is wearing beautiful boots to keep her feet warm (she is true to her personal style). Princess Ariane's pants and top are looking better on the model. On her it looks a bit like pyjamas.
I do not really like Queen Maxima's yellow dress. The yellow is too yellow to be fashionable. The dress style does not appeal to me either. She also had to wear one of her capes to have warm enough. With her big hat she can be sure that everyone has seen her.
