Professor John Donaldson passed away at the age of 84 in Hobart, Tasmania. John Dalgleish Donaldson was a Professor of Applied Mathematics, born in Scotland on September 5, 1941.

In her statement, the Queen said: “My heart is heavy, and my thoughts are grey. My beloved father has passed away. But I know that when the grief settles, the memories will brighten my day, and what will remain strongest is love and gratitude for everything he gave me and taught me.” His health had been declining over the past few years.

    He must have been so proud of her! I think thats why her recent visit to Australia was important to her, to say goodbye!

  4. Sad news indeed. At least she was able to see him recently on the trip to Tasmania. I remember how very proud he looked walking her down the aisle on her wedding day. 😢

    Oh that’s so terribly sad. To be on the other side of the world and not be able to be with a parent as they die is so very sad. I have loved every public moment where we have had the chance to see or hear from her Dad. He seemed to be such a clever, loving, caring and gentle man.

    Någonstans glömmer vi bort att det är den privata sidan i hennes familj.
