Princess Amalia of the Netherlands is visiting Amsterdam on Thursday 16 and Friday 17 April at the invitation of Mayor Halsema. The Princess’s visit to Amsterdam began at the mayor’s official residence, where she met with residents of the city. During the two-day visit, the Princess will further acquaint herself with various sectors and will be updated on current topics such as science, sports, culture, housing, and social cohesion.
On Thursday afternoon, the Princess of Orange visited the Science Park, preceded by a brunch with the mayor. The Princess was given a tour of the AMOLF laboratories, where research on solar cells and the development of sustainable solar energy were explained. In Amsterdam-Zuidoost, the Princess visited a foundation where young people are offered sports and social activities to provide them with better prospects and to develop leadership skills.

حذفThe mayors in Europe have not all these chains of office. There are countries where the mayor only use the sash with the national colors. In Belgium f.e. it is the national tricolore of black, red and yellow. Also the governors of each province are wearing it on national events.

حذفThere’s something quite special about this young CP. I see the same energy from Elisabeth of Belgium and Lenor of Spain. All three are well educated. As well as their on going period within the armed services. I take my hat off to them for that commitment!

حذفCP Leonor of Spain is still in the defense forces of her country. She must do it for 3 years. CP Elisabeth of Belgium did university studies at Oxford together with Royal Military School in Belgium. She also did summer camps with the army instead of taking holidays. Both princesses had no choice. In Spain and in Belgium the King is Commander in Chief of the Army, the Air-Force and the Navy. CP Elisabeth will receive her diploma of Harvard University in Cambridge (US) next month. In The Netherlands CP Amalia is at the Defense college because she wanted to do it. Her father the king is not the Commander in Chief of the defense forces. She has not finished her studies at the University of Amsterdam yet. She also took a gap year between her Secondary school and going to university. In Belgium it is not the custom that princes or princesses are taking gap years. In Spain I think King Felipe and Queen Letizia would not agree either that the CP would take a gap year.
So you see it is very different in every European country.

ردحذفShe is naturally beautiful. This 3 piece pantsuit is a gorgeous color, suits her well. Fits perfectly. Love her large gold earrings, the subtle necklace, I like.
ردحذفThe pantsuit is a rewear. It is bought at Mango's one of Queen Letizia's go to high street brands. Lucky for CP Amalia she could find something of the rack at Mango's, unless they are doing special adaptations for their royal lady clients. Often when I am passing a Mango shop I cannot resist and are going to look inside if they don't have something that could suit me. Unfortunately I never find a jacket or pants which fit. I am not very tall and I am not overweight. I find much more easy something at Zara's. Massimo Dutti is a nice Spanish brand too but they have nothing for little women. Princess Eléonore of Belgium is buying sometimes things there. She was just seen last week with Queen Mathilde entering the Massimo Dutti store at avenue de la Toison d'Or in Brussels. Maybe to look for an early birthday present ?
ردحذف@11:06 - well stated. Add to that list CP`s Victoria and Ingrid Alexandra, who have also done extensive military training. I remember the Dutch CP getting certificate for `attendance` from her university, quite an achievement.
