A Happy Easter to the family. They all looked rugged up & warm in the Danish cold. Mary

Except for the boys, everybody is too casual for Easter Sunday

12:11 this makes me laugh!! How is it that you can say the Danish Royal family don’t know their own dress requirements?!?

The boys are also dressed in casual elegance, no suits. I don't really agree that one should wear one's Sunday best for Easter.

Really I don’t see that. The ladies all have beautiful coats, well groomed. I think the days of wearing pastel colours at Easter is not the norm.

compared to the British Royal Family, they are having a walk in the park, not Easter service

So interesting to hear opinions on fashion norms. I’ve been to two funerals in the last year in two different countries and everyone was in black in the US and hardly anyone was wearing black in Australia. I think these norms vary a lot with geography. As for Easter, I think most of the US wears pastel/spring colors for the holiday. Just an observation.

I agree withou to some extent. I think all are in the ‘smart casual’ territory but the men certainly look smarter. I think if the females were wearing brighter coloured clothing then the trousers and coats combo would appear smarter.

What happened to wearing bright clothes at Easter?

I don’t know 12:15, is that a thing?! I think the family is wearing clothes which were appropriate for the event and weather.

They are becoming like the Spanish, no interest in dressing up for a special ocassion!

Once again, and has had been said many times in the past, they are a very good looking family. They are dressed in well coordinated colours too. Vincent looks very grown-up, and resembles Christian in these photos more than usual. I do like Mary's cashmere coat from Joseph. Wishing them all a Happy Easter.

SUCH a gorgeous family. Both boys look taller than their dad.

It looks like that happened overnight! Now I also see resemblance of the children: Isabel looks like one of Q.Mary's sisters; Josephine , like young Princess Benedikte ; Vincent looks more Monpezat than ever before, P.Christian is half and half of both families King Frederik's and Queen Mary's. Beautiful family now matter how undressed or over dressed.

    2. I think it's the other way round - Josephine takes after Mary and Isabella after their Dad's side.

Lovely family and well dressed; however, I always love some brightness in clothing at Easter - a time for rejoicing. The British family is wearing more Spring colors. But no matter, the families are together celebrating another blessed Easter!

Funny a military man who is carrying the umbrellas and is walking behind the royal family. Does his job is body-gard, military man and personal assistant in one person ?
As far as I can see it, Princess Josephine is wearing beautiful boots with block heels which have the right heigth.

The military man is the king’s aide-de-camp, who has to be there with the king always. There were at least three, maybe four body-guards as well. But they are discrete.

QM has had this Joseph coat in her closet for a decade. It looks as elegant on her today as when she first wore it. Some items of clothing are timeless and this coat is one of them.
Both sisters look well dressed and the two princes look smart and dapper.

  15. I am Australian and perhaps it is the Australian in me that likes that the Danish Royal Family looks like a "normal" family. Queen Mary is wearing a cross-body bag as many women would as they go to church. The family are all well dressed, but not over dressed.
They can dress beautifully for gala events as we see at New Years and other special occasions and while Easter Sunday is special, it is also a family occasion.
I think they all look perfect. I have always preferred the more informal look of the Danish Royal Family to the British Royal Family, maybe it is the Aussie in me.

  16. How refreshing to see a royal family looking like a "normal" family going to the church. I myself am not religious, but I go to church sometimes because the environment is calming.
I don't like fanaticism in any form and I think that dressing up for church has become such a thing. It's sad because dressing "properly" has nothing to do with one's faith.

@Zucchina: I agree. It's great to see a royal family looking like a normal but well dressed non-royal family. The Danish are lucky because they monarchy is smaller and their country is more relaxed when it comes to these matters, as the Nordic monarchies seem to be. They don't carry the weight of history, tradition and criticism that I think the BRF seem to do, when it comes to dressing for public appearances.

Whilst I quite like the DRF considering this is a fashion blog there really is little to comment on regarding fashion on this occasion. They could be any family going anywhere - shopping, visiting friends etc., there is nothing to indicate a church visit or it being a special day. Attire, acceptable, not remarkable. Yet such negative comments about the BRF when at least they have made an effort to `celebrate` Easter, but K.Charles is Head of the Church of England which is the main difference.

  18. Yes I also like "looking like a normal family". By the way it looks like "men on one side, women on the other". (pic 1&2). Later Kg Frederic moved a bit.

@05:57 - I respect your choice but you do realise that since 08.09.2022 Charles been King of Australia. I am assuming the 'Aussie' in you prefers the DRF because of Mary. Dressing well for Easter has always been the thing to do in the UK, it is a celebration, it is not an informal, ordinary day!

Lovely family, well dressed in casual-chic for Easter. The boys are so tall and becoming very handsome young lads now, and so are the girls, really pretty.
What a contrast of the brits royals, it’s an Easter service, not a show.
    Happy Easter in Danemark.
