King Charles III and Queen Camilla are on their first state visit to the United States to mark the 250th anniversary of American independence. On the evening of April 28, 2026, U.S. President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump hosted a state dinner for King Charles and Queen Camilla in the East Room of the White House in Washington.
For the occasion, Queen Camilla wore a long-sleeved pink evening gown by Fiona Clare. She also wore the Kent Amethyst Parure and the Queen Mother’s Art Deco Cartier diamond bracelet at the state dinner. One of the oldest heirlooms in the royal vaults, the Kent Amethyst Parure originates from Queen Victoria’s mother, the Duchess of Kent. Meanwhile, First Lady Melania Trump wore a pale pink gown by Dior.

Wow and Melania looks soo young.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful dress (Camilla too).
It's pity many fashion houses don't went to collaborate with her.
But she managed to be the most...
It would profit only the fashion houses anyway, not Melania. There are splendid outfits everywhere, nobody really needs the fashion houses. Without them, the yearly changing fashion dictatorship could maybe stop, for everybody's (and the environment's) advantage ...
DeleteHigh marks to the designer of Melania's gown for originality and contemporary design. It is certainly one of a kind which I do appreciate. The fabric has structure which helps keep the unusual pleats and gathers in place. I like the way it falls from the shoulder over to one side in a waterfall effect. Camilla chose a more conservative gown making an impact with it's hot pink colour.
ReplyDeleteCamilla looks stunning. I would however have chosen a little more delicate earrings to pair with that amazing necklace. Also her mist gorgeous evening dress ever. Melania looks stylish as usual as do the men
ReplyDeleteCamilla looks stunning. Although I would have chosen more delicate earrings to pair with that amazing necklace. A beautiful evening dress. Melania looks as stylish as ever as do the men
ReplyDelete@11:11, No delicate earrings here, necklace and earrings belong together and are one of the oldest pieces in the royal vault. You can learn about them in the blog The Court Jeweller.
DeleteCamillas klänning är oändligt mycket vackrare när tv sände ut en sekvens. Ljusare, skimrar om klänningens utsmyckning i dagsljuset. Färgen är så klädsam, sagolikt vacker.

Melania nails it. What a gorgeous Dior dress. Camilla looking elegant as well with this spectaculair necklace
ReplyDeleteMelania's dress is giving so much unnecessary volume! she should have worn her usual style like the one on UK state dinner

Camilla's jewelry is stunning with the lovely pink gown. Somehow she is not overshadowed by the exquisite Melania. Both women seem to be as gracious as they are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteMelania looks very elegant!
ReplyDeleteSuperbes améthystes que j'aurais bien vues avec une robe rose clair ou même lilas !

ReplyDeleteOMG, the fantastic Kent Amethysts! Yay. I'm over the moon with Queen Camilla's wardrobe (and choice of accessories/jewels) for this visit. As this is also a visit to mark 250 years of independence from the British Crown, not wearing a tiara was absolutely the right decision. Busted out the huge amethysts instead, so well done! I also very much like the Dior dress on Melania Trump. She did so well, too. I'm actually impressed. Happy dance.
ReplyDeleteQueen Camilla’s jewelry is…….very much!
ReplyDeleteI donot think the colour of the dress matches the amethyst .
That is. Pity: in itself both are good.
If you look at pic 7 it shows that the jewellery is very pink and a great match. The other photos show the jewellery to be more purple.
DeleteI agree with your observation about the necklace: as stunning as it is in itself, to me it doesn't go well with the beautiful dress QC's wearing. A necklace with diamonds only would have my preference in this case.
DeleteIt was a supershort clip on air, Camilla looked stunning. The dress had a very very soft and light colour. Pictures do not show at all how fantastic Camilla look in this flattering gown Maja
DeleteCamilla’s jewels are amazing. And Mrs. Trump’s sculptural gown is breathtaking. Such an unusual design could risk “wearing the wearer”, but the First Lady has the height and the posture to not be overwhelmed by a fabulous creation like this. Wowza.
ReplyDeleteMelania's dress is perfection (for her). Spectacular and subtle at the same time... not an easy task. Really stellar. - Camilla looks good, the diamonds and amthysts are pieces with a long history. I must admit that I would have chosen a soft and very light pastel shade of lavendel/lila/pink for the dress because first, she can wear those colours well and second and foremost, they would be, of course only IMHO, a better fit for these jewels. Melania's dress colour would have been perfect for them, for example.
ReplyDeleteCamilla and Charles looking great. I love the neither have attempted to hide or disguise their age. Camilla’s jewels are incredible to behold. This couple stand for morals which build health and happiness, including care for the environment, peace, inclusivity and kindness (as opposed to selfishness and greed also portrayed here).
ReplyDeleteI love seeing this incredible amethyst demi parure - it is stunning. Kudos to Camilla for letting more contents of the royal jewelry vault see the light of day. The bright pink dress is a bold choice; Camilla manages to carry it off. Melania Trump’s dress is more stiff and structured at the top than I personally would choose, but it looks very good on her.

The Dior dress is beautiful, but I don't think that it suits Melania's figure, especially her wider hips. Nothing wrong with that, just that the proportions for the design are askew. The bodice is beautiful, and looks great on her with her statuesque bare shoulders. I also do not like the long gloves. Bare arms and more skin along the frame would have shown off the dress better.
ReplyDeleteCamilla's dress looks informal and without much fanfare for a white-tie event. Perhaps a lighter colour for this type of dress style and design would have elevated the look. Speaking of colour, I am surprised to see her wear this colour, and then to wear it for an evening event. Even more surprising, it seems to work.
To me, her look for the evening was clearly about her jewellery, although I find it chunky and heavy, and not a good match for her dress, nice as the pieces might be on their own.

Wow Camilla, Melanian nice dress but better other color
ReplyDeleteMelania est resplendissante, sa robe wouah!
ReplyDeleteLe collier de Camilia est trop gros à mon goût
I think this is one of Camilla's worse dresses ever. Melania's dress isn't good either too much unnecessary design. Would have been much better simpler. Tacky all around.
ReplyDeleteI am on the fence regarding Camilla’s dress. I find the puff shoulders a bit ‘80’s ish, however having said that she needs them to balance her silhouette. The amethyst necklace gosh if you are not going to wear a tiara, bring out the huge stones, which I find are a nice contrast. It certainly draws your eyes to them, the shear size is so over the top. Melania looks lovely in that shade of pink, very modern youthful look.
