King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden marked his 80th birthday with a gathering of European royals, as well as King Rama X and Queen Suthida of Thailand. In the morning, the Swedish Royal Family and European royals attended a Te Deum service in the Royal Chapel at the Royal Palace. The thanksgiving service was held to mark the King’s 80th birthday.
King Carl XVI Gustaf, Queen Silvia, Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Daniel, Princess Estelle, Prince Oscar, Princess Madeleine, Princess Leonore, Princess Adrienne, Prince Carl Philip, Princess Sofia, Prince Alexander, Prince Gabriel, Prince Julian, and Princess Ines attended the thanksgiving service.
Among the European royal families in attendance were King Frederik, Queen Mary, Queen Margrethe, and Princess Benedikte of Denmark; Grand Duke Guillaume, Grand Duchess Stéphanie, and Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg; Hereditary Princess Sophie of Liechtenstein; Crown Princess Margareta and Crown Prince Radu of Romania; as well as King Rama X and Queen Suthida of Thailand.
The celebrations were also attended by Finnish President Alexander Stubb and his wife, Suzanne Innes-Stubb, as well as Icelandic President Halla Tómasdóttir and her partner, Björn Skúlason. A luncheon was held in the King’s honor at City Hall.

What is with Princess Sophia's hat? Why is she hiding her face? And why did she think that was a good look? I really don't like GD Stephanie's outfit at all. The sleeve under the cape is too much, it does not look good on her. The color is nice but not a good style for her (or possibly anyone else either). The red moire taffeta dress and jacket is very pretty - my overall favorite of the day. Princess Estelle looks all grown up but I am not a fan of the rolled collar on her dress, otherwise it's a beautiful color and I love the flowers. The same for Queen Mary's blouse, the suit is just ok but I don't like the color or the collar on the blouse. I hope there is a dinner for the King so we can see some jewels and tiara's!
ReplyDeleteDid Princess Sofia have facial surgery? There is no other explanation for her hat.
ReplyDeleteBest: I don't know why Vitoria is wearing uniform, but it is perfectly fitted and for me, she looks absolutely smashing in it! As far as I am concerned, she can go on wearing it any time. Tightly followed by Estelle, looking fabulous and making me happy with a beautiful dress length. - Worst: GD Stephanie is wearing - well, loads of red fabric, the rest of which was gathered into an as monumental as superfluous cape. - In non-competitive mode present: all the flowers and ruffles that the Duchess of E. left to be deployed by much more suitable candidates, in this case by the best one: little Ines. - Silvia looks as she always does: absolutely perfect, without surprises, as she is not the birthday girl.
ReplyDeleteLove the moiré silk on Her Majesty Margerita of Romania (Custodian of the Romanian Crown). Princess Sophie of Liechtenstein's hat is a bit too large, me thinks, and Princess Sofia of Sweden's hat sits very low on her brow. Everybody else looks good, as expected and befitting the occasion. Can't wait for tonight's gala dinner.
ReplyDeleteThey all look elegant and festive, wonderful! Estelle is such a pretty young lady now!
ReplyDeleteSofia should have left her Melania hat at home. Not a great sight..literally 😂🤣
ReplyDeletePrincess Sofia don't walk into a wall!
ReplyDeleteKing Carl is my favorite royal!
ReplyDeleteMary don't cry.
ReplyDeleteSome true loveliness here. Love Sylvia’s colour scheme and as per always they make a dashing couple. All their kids and grandkids look wonderful - although unusually several without their normal generous smiles … was a photographer positioned in the corridor where no one was expecting her or him! Victoria and Daniel’s kids are just lovely. The lady on the left in pic 4 has a most beautiful blue outfit and the hem length is just perfect for low heels, a fine example of elegance without uber high heels. Princesses Madeleine and Sofia looking superb. What a treat for us to see!
