On April 21, 2026, Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako received President of Montenegro Jakov Milatović and his wife, Milena Milatović, at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo, Japan. President Milatović and his wife are paying an official visit to Japan from April 20 to 23 on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and Montenegro.
