  1. Erm ... erm ... this is ... I try to say something nice. Perhaps that I like the look of Queen Letizia here?

Easy to say something nice here, dear DSC. Letizia’s dress is gorgeous on her, and Stephanie’s outfit totally loves her curves and looks smashing. The meeting between the four looks warm and genuine and I can’t wait for the rest of the photos from the visit. Tiaras perhaps?

jumpsuit is not working! a lovely dress for a state visit like Letizia's is best.

Agree. Letizia is chic, good dress. But Stéphanie? A bit strange, her outfit - despite the famous fashion name.

It is not a state visit. It is a courtesey visit following their accession to the trone. GD Guillaume and GD Stéphanie are making an official visit to Spain. They have been already to Belgium, The Netherlands, .... The royal ladies are not wearing tiaras on these visits either.

Both ladies look quite nice, but I feel like they are dressed for different occasions. Stephanie looks much more dressed up with her outfit and necklace than Letizia does.

I think the first meeting of a state visit is quite formal, and I think both outfits match the formality. Stephanie looks gorgeous and probably values a more formal flowy outfit to build her confidence; it’s been harder for her to build her wardrobe given a harder to dress body type (not her fault! - it’s that most designs are designed for tall thin women, even if most of are not!).

      Delete
    2. Exactly my thoughts, Royal Watcher. Stephanie’s outfit would look good for a formal evening do. It’s a good colour and I like the flowing lines but it’s not so flattering for someone who is not tall and thin. Queen Letizia is a perfect example of simple elegance

In my view, too, this is not an evening or overly formal gown. Fabric overflow, but that's all, this does not make it an evening gown. Neither does this unhappy cape addition.

I don't think one must compare GD Stéphanie with her mother in law former GD Maria Teresa who is much shorter than Stéphanie. When a lady is short and not thin it is even more difficult to find clothes that fit. I think Stéphanie could wear 3/4 coats over pants and tunica's. When it is too hot she could take the coat off and still look elegant in trousers and a tunica. I like her the best with her hair loose at a length reaching her shoulders like she did yesterday when visiting the exhibition.

    Letizia looks chic and elegant.

I like the colour. It is not the most becoming look other than photo 8. I don’t find the draped sleeves add anything other than fabric, 3/4 sleeve would still leave the same amount of arm showing.I like the length however the way it follows her curves in the back is okay but not the most flattering. Her hair has an interesting twist perfect to showcase her pretty face. Hair is a permanent accessory she uses it well.

I think this is an unfortunate fashion choice for Stephanie. Not only is not flattering, in my opion, but it doesn't really seem like a daytime outfit. With a tiara and royal orders this might be okay but, here it's just not good. It's not even a flattering color ... for anyone.

I am basically anti-cape. But also anti wallowing fabrics. And what should I say now, seeing a fully incomprehensible cape + wallowing amounts of fabric? Well, I like this shade of green. But less would be more.

Actually, they could have swapped outfits, the two ladies. And then, if we are at it, let me add: Maybe Guillaume thinks that this suit is going to fit again after he will have lost some weight? In this case, I am ready to overlook that he had simply grown out of it.

I love both outfits, each true to the lady. Letizia in a beautiful shade of green for her colouring, and Stephanie a green very beautiful on her. Letizia’s dress is classic and lovely on her body type; Stephanie’s jump suit sits so beautifully on her curves, arguably a harder body shape to dress given that most designers design for effectively Letizia’s body shape. So here I see two ladies dressed extremely well for their body shapes and colouring.

Loving this choice for Stephanie the more I examine it. She looks confident and beautiful, and I think the jumpsuit is a winner for her. Letizia as per normal beautiful in a simple dress design with a lovely flatteringly long hem line.

  11. I agree with others that the dress styles are very incongruent. I love Letizia's dress. The style and the colour are so beautiful in every respect. Stephanie looks like she is going to the Oscars.

Ha … when you’re the Grand Duchess or the Queen you get to set the tone of formality. It is not for us to decide. Besides which the formal meeting to kick off a Royal visit is very formal traditionally.

    2. Anonymous6/3/26 01:27

It’s not an informal afternoon visit but the first meeting of an official visit, hence the formality.

  13. Anonymous5/3/26 21:32

Another unfortunate choice for Stephanie. Her dress is much too long and grand for an informal, afternoon meeting. She just isn't tall enough to handle this kind of caped dress. Queen Letizia is dressed very appropriately.

Stephanie made a mistake by choosing this beautifull theatrical dress for this moment.

Based on the last couple days, I think we’re in for a heavy rotation of green this year! I personally gravitate towards brighter greens, so QL’s dress is more appealing in color. I also think her dress feels more daytime given the simple cut and shorter length, while GDS is dressed more formally. Elie Saab makes beautiful dresses, but this jumper is a dramatic design with all of the top ruching, floor length sleeves, and wide pant legs. Hard for anyone to pull off.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Anonymous5/3/26 23:58

Relooking at the photos I think the problem is the torso of the jumpsuit is a tad too long for her. Shorten a few inches at the waist would pull everything up so the waistline would not be resting on the top of her hips. And I would remove the draping sleeves and replace with elbow length. Colour is nice with her complexion.

The color of Stephanies suit is not bad, but not the right piece of garment for this visit. Letizia is a stunner.

I think that Stephanie is really trying to find her "best" look. In the lasts months she has explored more variety of styles, colors and fabrics than in the previous decade, so kudos to her. But this jumpsuits should make a hasty exit.

  20. I think Queen Letizia has worn this dress before. I love the color, beautiful shade of green. The skirt of the dress has a tad of flair which looks nice. Black accessories work in well. I saw elsewhere Letizia wore cascading emerald stones. (I think they are emerald) Pretty earrings. GD Stephanie looks lovely, but this pantsuit, I am not a fan of.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Anonymous6/3/26 06:35

I really like the cut of Stephanie's dress/pantsuit/whatever it is, although it's a bit too evening-wear-y for my taste for the time of day of the meeting. The colour is a bit bland and dull, though, and the back looks a bit tight. Letizia is impeccable, although I don't like HER shade of green, either. Can we go back to shades of blue, please? :-)

As lovely as she looked yesterday, when she wore a dark green khaki top and trousers at an exhibition as not attractive she looks in this light kakhi/olive green jump suit by Elie Saab. When taking a look at the picture of the model one can see why this jump suit doesn't correspond with the morphology of GD Stéphanie. Instead of making her look longer, she looks wider than she is. Another type of green would look better on the GD. She wore green dresses in the past which looked very good with her blond hair.
I see that both royal ladies had 2 events on the same day. I wonder GD Stéphanie and GD Guillaume arrived in Madrid in the late afternoon/early evening. If this is the case it explains Stéphanie's outfit for a dinner party.

I agree with Frourou @07:25 - they look as though they are attending different events. The GD`s jumpsuit is the wrong style for her, the material too light and flouncy for such a meeting, once inside the palace she does look better but a dress beautifully tailored like Q.Letizia`s would have looked so much better, in my opinion. Both ladies have beautifully styled hair. K.Felipe looks very dapper but the G.Duke really need to get a suit that fits.

Stephanie is a beautiful woman but this outfit in no way flatters her. I think more tailored outfits suit her better. I also find it too formal. but the color suits her beautifully. I think if she lost a few pounds (and I am not saying she should be skinny by any means) she would look much better in clothes.

This is not a good luck for GDS. Jumpsuits can be unforgiving,as can clinging material. I wish she had opted for a dress similar to QL. A less fussy and a more streamlined dress would look lovely. Her hair is lovely.
QL so elegant. She is one of the few royal ladies who know exactly what works for them, and as such wears the item rather than the item wearing them.
