The Duchess visited Children’s Hospital Los Angeles to show support for its Make March Matter fundraising campaign

On March 12, 2026, the Duchess of Sussex visited Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. The Duchess’s visit to the hospital was part of CHLA’s month-long Make March Matter campaign. It is an annual fundraising initiative that brings together celebrities and the community with the mission of creating hope and building a healthier future. The funds raised help support the hospital’s operations so that it can continue to help sick children.

The Duchess first stopped by the Creative Oasis area of the hospital, where she spent time watercolor painting with the young patients. She then spent time with bed-bound patients who were unable to leave their rooms for the painting activity. Children’s Hospital Los Angeles is one of the nation’s leading children’s hospitals.

Probably wondering who she is. Was briefly on tv in the USA via Netflix but otherwise unlikely known by American kids I guess.

Et puis, je vais assortir mon masque avec ma tenue...porter un masque bleu layette comme les hospitaliers, vous n'y pensez pas. Je suis tout de même plus chic, non ?

During the pandemic Queen Mathilde was the first royal to wear a mask in the same color and fabric like her clothes. After her other royal ladies copied her style. She wore these masks to visit sick people also children in hospitals. When King Philippe was there too he was wearing sometimes the light blue masks almost everyone wore, afterwards he wore sometimes black masks. Nobody in Belgium made remarks because it was not relevant. What was really important was the fact that they were there, no matter the color of their mask.

I like the understated look here, appropriate for a visit to a hospital. However, Meghan‘s stringy, unkempt hair is beyond me.

Found something Virginia ? The hair of the mother with her child next to her in the last picture looks exactly the same as Meghan's. Maybe their hair was cleaner than yours. Stringy hair can happen and it is not because it is not clean or unkempt. It is hair that need a bit of better treatment like nourishing products i.e. Maybe they had no time that day because the visit to the children was more urgent and important than the way their hair looked.

That she is recognized or not and in the presence of Prince Harry or not doesn't matter. Children are not supposed to know which famous person is visiting them. In the US there are tons of famous people. Children in every country stay children and their interests are different than the interests of adults. Children who are too sick to come out of bed are probably happy that someone is coming to them to comfort them no matter who that person is.
Lucky there are still good people all over the world who make time to do fundraising which can make a difference for sick children whose parents are maybe not so rich and can have difficulties to find enough money to pay for their children's stay in a hospital. Special care and special treatments can cost a lot of money.

I used to volunteer every weekend to read stories to the children in the children's ICU ward at the hospital affiliated with my uni. And I can guarantee you, even a nobody like me's time was appreciated by the the staff, and the children's parents.

Do you see the teenager in the pink T-shirt with all those treatment bracelets on her left wrist. can you imagine the terror of her parents if they have no more money to pay for her treatment. She is wearing a mask for a reason ...most likely to shield her immune system. Focusing requires wits....

Only the reading of so much hate in these comments tells me what kind of people is living on this planet.
If all of you haters know it so much better, why don't you start a fundraising of your own to help others who have more and real problems than you. Who says she is conducting herself as a working royal ? I don't think she does. Harry and Meghan are conducting themselves as people with compassion for handicapped and sick people, for children like those shown on the photos we see here, etc... and whom they are trying to help. Instead of spreading hate against them, maybe you could also do something similar since you know everything so much better. Be creative, come up with some good/new idea's.....maybe when you have something to do which is really important you will better understand other people who are happy when they can help people in need.

  19. This is neither pro nor anti Meghan, just a comment so that I am not set upon by either faction! Pictures 3 and 4 made me laugh out loud as the combination of black mask and tail of dark hair look as if Meghan is wearing a fake beard! 😂

The masks are ridiculous. Not only is the black mask rather intimidating, but masks in general do not lift up anyone´s spirit. If she read to these kids, she needed to take off the mask anyway. And that type of protection makes no sense for visiting tumor patients either. And if there was any child running the risk of even potentially getting infected, no hospital would ever allow any visitors, let alone a whole camera team. Also, getting that close to patients and actually touching them would be a no-go.
Most of the celebrities involved in fundraisers could single-handedly donate more than they could ever raise from the community.

So you are accusing the hospital of collaborating in a fake show with these sick children for the pleasure of Meghan ? If it was so dangerous the hospital would never allow the photographers (they probably had to wear a mask too before they could come in the room of the children with cancer). The black mask is intimidating ? I think these children have been seen already more intimidating things due to their health situation than someone who is wearing a black mask. The children wont get sicker if someone puts a hand on their arm. The visiting people (the children's parents, family, brothers and sisters, should they also stay away from them ?) Since the pandemic in every normal hospital you have to desinfect your hands and put a mask on before entering the room of a patient. When the visit is over you have to desinfect your hands again and put the used mask in the bin before you leave. People like you who are saying that wearing a mask is ridiculous think they are smarter than the medical doctors. When I am visiting my personal doctor, she is wearing always a mask especially during winter. She has also a special airco installation in her cabinet to refresh the air constantly. The first time I saw it when the pandemic was almost over I was surprised and I said to her "Sorry dr. but I thought we didn't have to wear a mask anymore when coming to see you". She said "You don't have to wear a mask anymore, but I do because I see more sick patients in one day than you do in several months". If the way the fundraising is organised cannot have a significant result, I don't think Meghan would spend her time on it. She is not stupid, I think she examined the positive and negative points before and found it valuable enough to agree with the organization who asked for her collaboration.

    2. Anonymous15/3/26 21:06

You misunderstood. I am not accusing the hospital of anything. I am saying that Meghan wearing a mask is ridiculous. If there is a risk of infection, the hospital wouldn´t allow a camera team in. If there is no risk of infection, then there´s no point wearing a mask. Admittedly, I don´t know whether or not hospitals in the US, or in LA in particular, have a mask mandate for all visitors. I´m not aware of any such policy, and I know for certain that it doesn´t exist where I live.

If all you say is true and if all others pretending like you that she is acting only for self promotion, the majority of us and the people who ask for her collaboration and participation in organizing for exemple a visit to sick children in hospitals, should have let her down since a long time and wouldn't ask her never again to do promotion work for them since a long time. In other countries it are also the private initiatives who are asking famous people like actors, singers, famous presentators on TV, sportsmen and -woman, etc... who are asked to spend a bit of their time to do fundraising for the good cause. Sometimes a king, queen or princess is invited to hand over the check with the amount of money which have been raised for organization A or B.

@22:35. I'm pretty sure the Princess of Wales has better things to do in her life than be on a fashion website leaving comments. I'm sure the royal family has moved on (on both sides of the pond). They will sort out their issues in private.

Rather address the commenter directly who left this nasty comment than dragging Catherine into this. As someone who has survived cancer, she has a new lease on life and is making the most of it.

That said, I think the visit from the Duchess and the overall cause worthy. She is doing a good job of bringing light, and most importantly, funds to the hospital. The children seem to have enjoyed their time with her, she also seems to have enjoyed her time with them, which shows she genuinely cares. She can be defended without making any reference to other royals (particularly Catherine).

The UK press has pitted royal ladies (those who marry in) against each other - in bygone years it was Diana vs Fergie, in this era it is Catherine vs Meghan, late Diana vs (Camilla, Catherine, Meghan), and who knows who it will be in the future. Even men and couple's aren't immune - Charles vs William, William vs Harry, Charles and Camilla vs William and Catherine, William and Catherine vs Harry and Meghan. The only way it will change is if royal watchers stop feeding into the machine because we've seen so called fans (more like lunatics) of both sides even go after the children. It has been 6 years since the Duke and Duchess left for America, and it is high time they were left to live their lives. I for one appreciate reading about them as I do with all other royals.
