King Philippe and Queen Mathilde are undertaking a three-day state visit to Norway from 24 to 26 March. The King and Queen were welcomed at Oslo Airport by Crown Prince Haakon. Afterwards, they were officially received by King Harald V and Queen Sonja of Norway at the Palace Square in Oslo. Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit were also present at the welcoming ceremony.
In the evening, King Harald and Queen Sonja will host a gala dinner in honour of King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of the Belgians.
King Philippe and Queen Mathilde visited the Gol Stave Church (Gol stavkirke) at the Norsk Folkemuseum in Buskerud, Oslo. Built around 1200, it was moved from its original site to Oslo in the 19thcentury to ensure its preservation. It was acquired by King Oscar II, who financed its relocation and restoration as the central building of his private open-air museum near Oslo. Original murals and medieval artifacts survived.

Mathilde’s pink ensemble is a good color on her, and I like her pretty updo. It looks like it is extremely windy; keeping the large hat from flying away must have been challenging. Mette-Marit and Haakon look nicely color-coordinated with each other. I am a bit surprised Mette-Marit participated given her poor health and recent events regarding her involvement with Epstein.

Gli uomini in divisa miliare, bella Mathilde in rosa e sempre adorabile Sonja.
ReplyDeleteSpero che Mette-Marit non si annoi, ha molto da imparare da queste due splendide regine.
I love everything about QM look. The shade of pink is just right. The cut of the dress is very flattering, and with the matching coat hat and accessories, she’s really hit the fashion nail right on its head!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to see what delights QM will serve up tonight.
Lowri.
Oueen Mathilde´s outfit is beautiful. I admire her for being so elegant walking down the stairs in those heels , having to hold on to her hat in the strong wind and rain.
ReplyDeleteThe men are well turned out and looking handsome! Does anyone know why King H. is wearing a different colored sash?
ReplyDeleteQM looks nice in this soft pink outfit, but the same color from head to toe is a little bit of a snooze.
QS & MM - Neither lady is dressed their best here. The Q’s outfit looks a bit messy with the ivory dress poking out below the pink coat hem. The top on MM is too long. Both ladies are wearing hats placed on the back of the head, which I think makes for a strange look, but that’s just my opinion.
King Harald is wearing the Belgian Order of Leopold. The others are wearing the Norwegian Ordre of St Olav.
DeleteAll of the ladies look marvelous here! Queen Mathilde's pink ensemble is so beautiful--the dress is wonderful on her. Queen Sonja's outfit is lovely--the bright pink cape and hat look great with the pretty cream dress. Mette-Marit is also looking very nice--her suit is elegant and fits her beautifully and her hat (?) adds a nice pop of color. Looking forward to tonight's banquet!

I think it’s customary that these royals wear each other’s highest orders on state visits. The purple sash is the Leopold Order, the oldest and highest order of knighthood in Belgium. Haakon apparently hasn’t yet been awarded this honor.
DeleteMaybe they only give to head of states.
DeleteYou know that King Harald and King Philippe are family. King Harald's mother Princess Märtha was a sister of King Philippe's grand mother Queen Astrid of the Belgians (Princess Astrid of Sweden). .
DeleteMette Marit is with them!
ReplyDeleteQueen Sonja's outfit is not put together well. The black boots are very harsh on the ivory dress, the magenta hat, although matching the too short cape coat in colour, only adding to the confusion. I like the combination in which the Crown Princess appeared. Looks very streamlined with just the right amount of colour. As for Queen Mathilde - it is clearly an elegant look. Perhaps a hat with a smaller brim would have been the more clever choice, but then - maybe the weather changed too suddenly for making any corrections on that matter. Looking forward to the gala dinner tonight.
ReplyDeleteQueen Mathilde's pink coat and dress are new and by Dior. Her shoes and handbag are rewear and also by Dior. It looks like Queen Mathilde's hat is also new and by Dior.
ReplyDeleteI like Mathilde´s ensemble, although it´s seemingly not quite spring yet in Norway.
ReplyDeleteSonja´s outfit is ok, but I don´t like the black boots with the white dress.
Mette-Marit apparently wanted to wear the Belgian colours but ends up looking a bit like Little red riding hood. She should have added more red accessories (shoes, belt, purse) to avoid that effect.
On a different note, I really wonder if she is still fit to represent Norway after her exchanges with Epstein came to light. Is that scandal so quickly swept under the rug?
