On March 2, 2026, Princess Kako of Japan visited the Tokyo Kotsu Kaikan in Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo, to view the 57th “Naruhodo Exhibition” (Idea Exhibition), which showcases practical inventions created by women from across Japan. Japan Women Inventors Association (JWIA) sponsors the exhibition that features winners of an invention contest focused on daily life. Holding a smartphone stand that can also be used as a disaster-prevention whistle to signal one’s location in an emergency, Princess Kako remarked, “I think it is a wonderful invention that helps protect lives.”

  1. The cardigan is a bit too large for her, isn't it? Nevertheless she looks lovely!

    1. It is. Sleeves are too wide. I'd like to see the skirt a bit better. From what I can see, it looks rather unusual.

Princess Kako’s bangs do not look flattering styled this way, in my opinion, but perhaps this is a style more popular in Japan.

    1. It is widely popular in Japan. There are special hair styling products out there only for using on bangs, and we might have the case of Princess Kakao using something that is called "bang mascara" right here.

    2. Sorry, should read "Kako", of course!

The Japanese young females could do so much better fashionwise. Japanese fashion is very modern and elegant and never tacky, so also very suitable for formal occasions. Too many times imv Aiko and Kako look very old fashioned.

Have you been up Japan? Your assessment of Japanese fashion is not what I’ve witnessed in Japan. I love that there is a lot of home styling, different from global mainstream, but quite different from your descriptions.

  5. I think this skirt is very attractive, it has interesting features, very different. The jacket is a tad big, but regardless she looks lovely and the jacket looks a nice style. Bright, happy, and engaging as she always brings to her visits. Her gold earrings look interesting. Obviously a different shape, but co ordinating with the buttons of her jacket.

    彼女はこの服の組み合わせを気に入っているようで、これまで何度も公の席で着ています。
