Princess Akiko of Mikasa took part in a talk event marking the release of her book “Bitten in the Stomach by My Pet Dog.” The title refers to an incident in which her late beloved dog, Samanosuke, bit her after seeing her holding a puppy. Akiko wore a dog-shaped brooch on her chest. She spoke for over an hour about her love of manga and books.
Speaking about the title, Princess Akiko of Mikasa said, “I thought people might wonder, ‘What does that mean?’ and be more inclined to pick up the book.” Samanosuke was a San’in Shiba dog, a traditional breed long found in Tottori, and had been by Princess Akiko’s side for nearly 12 years before passing away.
This is the sort of news that probably wouldn’t hit the global news wires were it not about a Royal! I hope she does well with her book, but I probably will not buy it.
