This hairband or half hat or whatever it is keeps her hair back and thus does not allow the usual outward-turned curls and I am wholeheartedly for Mathilde without out- and upward turned "duck tail" curls! Looks so much better. Not much else is visible, but in all probability she looks solemnly elegant.

A very sad commemoration of the Terrorist Attacks at Brussels Airport in Zaventem and Metro Maelbeek in Brussel (22 March 2016). King Philippe held a speech in the three national languages French, Dutch and German and also in English. In his speech he also remembered the police, the firemen, the military who were on duty that day. He also spoke with the survivers of these terrible attacks. Many of them stayed invalid and handicapped for the rest of their life. The prime minister Bart De Wever and the minister of justice arrived together with the king and queen. The king and queen talked with the families of the deceased
Although the king and queen and the ministers were well dressed in black, fashion did not really matter today.
A lot of pictures about this commemoration has been published in a lot of news papers and on the most websites and blogs concerning the royal family.

I think this is a perfect style for QM. She has the height to pull off a longer skirt. The jacket gives her shape.
    Lowri.

Such a sad event but, as usual, the King and Queen are dignified and respectful. I like Matilde’s outfit..it’s subtle and classy.
