On February 5, 2026, King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain chaired the annual meeting of the Royal Board of Trustees of the Gallery of the Royal Collections, an interministerial collegiate body attached to the Board of Directors of National Heritage. The meeting took place at the Royal Palace of Madrid. The King and Queen hold the Honorary Presidency of the Royal Board of Trustees of the Gallery of the Royal Collections.
This marked the third time that the Board has been convened. It was established as an advisory body to National Heritage on the occasion of the inauguration of the Gallery of the Royal Collections, the institution’s newest museum, which opened its doors in the summer of 2023. The Royal Board of Trustees serves as a tool to promote public-private collaboration in the management of the rich cultural heritage overseen by National Heritage.
