The Duchess of Edinburgh is making a two-day official visit to Kenya at the request of the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office. On the second day of her visit, the Duchess met with Ahmed Abdullahi Jiir, Governor of Wajir, at the Governor's Office in Wajir, north-east Kenya. They discussed the challenges of climate change in the region, with water and resource scarcity driving instability.
Afterwards, the Duchess attended a meeting with women peacebuilders working with the UK's Deris Wanaag and Reinvent programmes in Wajir. The discussions emphasized community-led peacebuilding and the empowerment of women as key to fostering stability and inclusive growth. For the occasion, the Duchess wore a wild-meadow print dress by Lexy London.

حذفI agree. A lovely lady with a great rapport with people all over the world. It's a pity she doesn't wear more flattering clothes but it's minor compared to the sterling work she does.
حذف“Granny sack” is particularly unflattering description for a pretty floral dress, the length of which allows her to sit on the ground with the ladies, to be respectful of their culture, and to appear brightly and prettily dressed. This might not be your choice for you, but doesn’t mean you can trash her choice. Fashion is wide ranging and we are allowed to choose differently.

She has other coton dresses which would do much better in the African sun. This "Laura Ashley" fabric and the waist which sits too high is not lovely at all. I bet she is wearing those weird espadrilles again.
ردحذف@ 15:20 - how would another cotton dress be better? This is fine, lightweight cotton, ideal for the African sun. Espradrilles are not weird but quite a practical choice on uneven, sandy surfaces.
ردحذفI have nothing against the espadrilles Queen Letizia and her daughters are wearing but those Sophie is wearing are not beautiful. Sorry. And the dress, I am not the only one who does not like it. (read anonymous 13:50, 14:07.....)
حذفI think if an outfit has to be defended with the climate, the continent, the work ethic , the character, the attitude to children, the person's overall pleasantness - then all who do this are not talking about the aspect we are here for. I cannot understand why this defence wall appears each time for Sophie ... nobody wants to hurt her and she does not need to be defended, she is lovely, except her fashion choices.
ردحذفNice colours but not the shape to enhance her figure. She needs a good stylist, she spends a lot of money on clothes but rarely really gets it right. Yes it is hot, she does have to be able to sit on the ground but there are better solutions - crop trousers and a loose top suit her well, just as an example. LRB
ردحذفI don’t like the dress, but I can see the woman wearing it with shades and sneakers with her hair up. I wouldn’t have chosen it for a meeting with a governor or to sit on the rug but I doubt she knew she would be.
