Ahead of International Women’s Day, the Duchess of Edinburgh is making a two-day visit to the capital of Somalia, Mogadishu. On February 23, The Duchess visited a Somali village in Lower Shabelle, where the wives of Somali soldiers explained the dangers posed by al-Shabaab and the challenges they face while their husbands fight for a more secure and stable Somalia.
On the first day of her visit, The Duchess met with the President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, and his daughter, Jihan Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, at Uganda House in the grounds of Villa Somalia. They discussed the crucial role women play in peacebuilding, strengthening community resilience and ensuring accountability for sexual and gender-based violence.
On the second day of her visit, The Duchess attended a meeting with civil society members at the British Embassy in Mogadishu to discuss issues surrounding sexual and gender-based violence in Somalia. Civil society representatives told The Duchess about the challenging operating environment they face, with conflict, drought and resource scarcity exacerbating the prevalence of such violence.
Perfect for the occasion and country. She represents the Royal family perfectly.

She is a lovely woman and represents the royal family well. But as for what this blog is for, namely: personal fashion choices, I am regularly disappointed. Of course, her choices are "occasion appropriate". She very clearly has her fashion preferences, but unfortunately they are not the the best ones for her person. Too much overall pattern - suit jacket over dresses - in most cases too long skirts/dresses, these are recurrent features.

I like Sophie’s dress, blazer, and especially the sling back shoes! But I think the scarf is too much. The dress and blazer are perfect without it. And the clutch would’ve been better as a solid color, not patterned. In any color actually. Overall the duchess looks professional and comfortable.
ردحذفBonjour Angie : je ne pense pas que le foulard soit là pour la mode ni pour faire joli, ni même qu'elle ait spécialement envie de le porter, il est en fait juste utile, si, pour une raison ou une autre, elle doit le mettre sur ses cheveux.
حذفDonc je suppose que le foulard est juste prévu pour ça, uniquement par respect (même s'il n'y a pas de photo d'elle avec le foulard sur ses cheveux). La Somalie est en majorité musulmane, et sur toutes ces photos les femmes ont la tête couverte. Donc, voilà sans doute la raison du foulard pour la duchesse.

I like both Max Mara dresses. I’d have preferred a shorter jacket rather than the Altuzarra jacket.

I don't like any of these dresses. I like the white jacket and the white sling backs. The style of the Max Mara dresses is much too old for Duchess Sophie. The blue dress by ME+EM is much too long and the espadrilles she is wearing with it are not the best choice. I wonder where she buys them. Where I live espadrilles are made in Spain, those Duchess Sophie wears do not ressemble at all to a Spanish pair of espadrilles, they are much too wide and in an awful color.
