On February 13, 2026, Princess Kako of Japan met with six traditional artisans at the Akishino residence within the Akasaka Estate in Moto-Akasaka, Tokyo. The participants included specialists in Bizen ware, Kawatsura lacquerware from Akita Prefecture, and Owari Buddhist altar fittings from Aichi Prefecture.
The meeting was connected to events surrounding the 42nd National Conference for Traditional Craft Products Month and the 50th anniversary ceremony of the Association for the Promotion of Traditional Craft Industries, both of which Princess Kako had been scheduled to attend last November. However, after she was forced to cancel her attendance due to a COVID-19 infection, the meeting was arranged at a later date.
