On 24 February 2026, King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia took part, together with a large number of Ukrainians, in an ecumenical prayer service for peace in Ukraine held at the Royal Chapel at Stockholm Palace. The King and Queen were joined by many Ukrainians, as well as the Speaker of the Riksdag and the Minister for Foreign Affairs, among others.
The ecumenical prayer service, which was held in Ukrainian and Swedish, was led by Father Andrii Linkevych of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Stockholm, Father Andrii Melnichuk of the Ukrainian Catholic Mission in Stockholm, and Pastor and Ordinary Court Chaplain Michael Bjerkhagen of the Royal Court Parish. It was the fourth prayer service for peace organized at King Carl XVI Gustaf’s request.
