Queen Rania also attended a private screening of Melania at the White House, a film highlighting the journey of the First Lady of the United States, Melania Trump. The event brought together numerous distinguished guests, with the participation of President Donald Trump. For the occasion, Queen Rania wore a custom silk dress by Prada.

  1. Rania looks beautiful but the Prada dress is a disaster. It's like a patchwork quilt that you definitely don't want in a dress. 4 different fabrics in 4 different designs sewn together and making it hard on the eyes. I can see some method to the madness as there was a thoughtful placement of the pieces to make the design more cohesive. But, overall Prada failed on this one. I can't see this dress looking good on anyone. As for the Alaia pants- what's with the balloon legs? They look like they were made for a clown. I suppose this is high fashion.

It’s as if the so called ‘designers’ were getting rid of left over fabric and just patched this ugly dress together. The dress probably cost a pretty penny too. High fashion doesn’t always result in a beautiful garment which is very true in this case.

Sandra you could not have said it better. One would have thought that the Prada representitive after one look in the fiiting room would have wisked the dress away to save their Prada reputation. If they managed to make a dress look aweful on Queen Rania it must be very bad indeed. I do not like that olive suit much either.

I agree she is gorgeous but the Prada dress is a nightmare! Mid section is particularly awful even on someone as trim and toned as Rania. The olive suit is great.

  3. I like the idea of the gown just maybe in a chromatic color scheme. From what I have been reading the movie "Melania" is a HUGE flop. The most boring, unfriendly and uninvolved First lady in recent history. I will take the late great Jackie Kennedy any day!

Thank you Fitzhugh. I am revolted by the politics of the current Whitehouse and the rapid diminishing of world stability and cannot believe Rania would publicly attend any such event at this time.

      I agree with you.
Rania met with Melania before. She is also seen at revolting events like Jeff Bezos' big party in Venice (Italy) last year. The habitants of the city of Venice were against the event because their city which has been built in the past on the water becomes very fragile due to the influence of the changing climate. As far as I know, she was the only royal of the current reigning families who took part in that party.

My thoughts exactly upon seeing Q.Rania on this post.
      How come she went there?
The Prada gown loses all interest in my eyes , obviously not a good choice fashionwise, but does not even remotely show so much bad taste as the Queen attending this event.

There’s a rather good review of the film in the Guardian today. Quote “ two hours of Melania feels like pure, endless hell”. I’m embarrassed for Rania’s outfit but above all appalled by Jordan’s allowing her to attend.

For me it is totally a miss for both outfits. The Prada dress is not elegant, and the balloon pants and longer jacket just look out of proportion. A case for yes you can wear it but shouldn’t.

I'm not crazy about either version of the Prada dress. To me, it just like they took left over scraps from various other projects in the sewing room and sewed them together. It's only value is the Prada name. For me that's not fashion and definitely not "haute couture."

Love the long line jacket of the suit but definitely no to the 'barrel' trousers. The dress, to my mind is a nod to a traditional badlah - commonly known as a belly dancer's costume.

SLOTUS Usha Vance looks lovely in a classic style, quiet simplicity and does not call attention to herself. I like the olive green suit of Queen Raina. She can wear that color well with her complexion. The multi-color dress for Queen Rania is a rare miss for me.

  14. I love the color of the pantsuit, looks to be olive green. The longer style jacket I quite like, but the billowing pants are a no. The Prada gown. The idea was there. The colored added pieces totally rein the gown. The black top long sleeved, yes! The pleated skirt looks good, not so sure about the color, but it may have worked better overall without the yellow, and peach pieces.

Mrs. Vance looks stylish, very elegant black dress, the patterned sleeves adding interest to this black dress.
I love the black floor length dress worn by the lady with the blonde hair. The thin black belt defines the dress well. I like the neckline, she looks very elegant and stylish.

      Dear @ Virginia Dogwood,
I agree with you on two points:
1.every reader should have the courage to sign their comments, especially when a post may trigger heated reactions, as is the case here.
      I myself have always rejected this moot form of anonimity;
      2. this is a fashion blog and politically charged remarks should have no room as a general rule.
Point 2 might entail some exceptions, though, depending on the specific context/background in which every single royal member moves.
The caption reads that Queen Rania met with the Second Lady of the United Stated for a "diplomatic meeting" (whatever this means) and then attended a "private screening" of a film about FL Melania Trump
(her husband was in attendance, too).
Since all royals are expected to stay neutral and super partes in political matters, the Queen of Jordan going publicly and posing with a representative of the current divisive American administration sounds out of place and confusing, to say the least.
The Queen of Jordan represents her country and if she takes a public political stance making it clear who she sides with, all this
is bound to ignite an equally public debate.
If she had kept everything private by choosing a low profile, discreet attendance, no one would ever have known such details about her.
If the wife of the Jordan Head of State goes public, despite the neutrality she is supposed to show off, and publicly supports such a divisive administration, this goes by far beyond the restrictions her role implies
If a Queen takes a political stance publicly, you will rightly find a political response from some readers even on this fashion blog..
She wasn't paying any State Visit in the strict sense of the word so it is fully legittimate to wonder what her role in officially supporting this administration is and what backlash all this may have on Jordan politics.
The scope of this post inevitably broadens beyond the limits of sartorial reviews, this goes without saying.
By the way, I personally appreciate both FL Melania and Queen Rania as fashion icons but fashion is a tiny point of discussion on this post imo.

P the Original…other than the name thing I agree with what you said..very perceptive. It isn’t a good look for the Queen of Jordan to be associated with such a controversial administration but Jordan depends very much on American money so perhaps that’s the reason Rania ‘made nice’ with Mrs Vance. Still very distasteful in my eyes and lowers my opinion of the Jordanian royals. Today I’ll sign my comment as Jane Doe..next time something else! 😁

      Thank you , @ Anonymous 19:30.
I just think that putting down a name or nickname is much more useful to follow a reader's train of thought and make him/ her recognizable all the time.
I am using a nickname myself and it is always detectable, no matter what I am talking about in my comments.
I must confess I am disappointed in Queen Rania's publicly exposed visit to Washington, though I will always recognize her as a fashion icon( same goes for FL Melania).
Then, I am a bit sad in reading the ongoing exceedingly heated discussion on this post .
I wish we could use a far kinder way to word out our verbal exchanges regardless of everyone's political stance.

Can you imagine having a “documentary” made about yourself and believing it’s worth a global release? The sheer narcissism of it. As for Rania’s outfit, it is perhaps a case of The King’s New Clothes where the designer and her attendants told her she looks marvellous and “young so young” in this dress and she believed it… and bought it… when that was not the truth at all.

Poster @ 13:39 The comments I referred to was from posters who said how bad the documentary was and is. I did not see it, so I must assume the comments are for FL Melania Trump. The classiest FL's have been and is Jackie Kennedy and now Melania Trump. Just because the dislike for her husband the President is no reason to stamp on her. I think God is OK with my feelings and what I posted.
Also, I am in no need of a Shrink, I don't suffer from TDS. Hope this will clear it up. And please do not worry about my religious believes, I am secure in it.
