On January 15, 2026, Queen Mary and Queen Margrethe of Denmark attended the reopening of the Theatre Museum in the Court Theatre at Christiansborg Palace on Slotsholmen in Copenhagen. The Court Theatre is over 250 years old. It opened in 1767 as the king’s theatre, and figures such as Hans Christian Andersen and Countess Danner, among others, have performed there. Today, the Court Theatre is the oldest theatre building still in working order in Denmark. For the occasion, Queen Mary wore a dress by Saloni.

  2. This deep blue velvet gown, with the rose petal addition is beautiful, what a gorgeous dress. I love the cut out of the neckline. The addition of the brooch, clever and perfect addition. Looks to be a pearl, but not quite sure, regardless, gorgeous. Not sure what the earrings are, but looking good. The Navy shoes and clutch, wonderful. Her hair looks soft and natural. Queen Margrethe looks beautiful, love her ensemble, and color combination.

The keyhole neckline is a little different for Mary but she looks great. The dress doesn’t seem to be velvet but has a deep, velvety look to it. Very pretty. The darker colors suit her so well and her earrings and neck brooch are fabulous. Queen Margarethe looks good in the darker lavender too.

Cute velvet or velour dress, fits so nicely. For me the keyhole opening distracts and not a look I prefer. The dear old queen is wearing her comfy shoes, her dress is a rewear but the colour is lovely with her complexion.

I’m afraid I also find that the rather large keyhole opening detracts, and distracts — it is very close to a “peekaboo” effect and while it certainly is something different for Mary, I don’t think it’s quite right for a daytime event. For an evening drinks party, totally. Queen Margrethe glows in lavender.

Oooo...I love Mary's dress! Stylish, slightly daring, and perfectly lovely. I like how she has added the jewelled clasp at the top - the perfect place for it, though that unusual and beautiful collar would have looked very nice even without it.
Her mother-in-law looks lovely in purple, and looks very happy to be with her daughter-in-law. Lovely to see them both.

I love this dress. Mary is sporting a more youthful look, and she can get away with it with her age defying figure. She should dress like this more often.

  9. J'aime assez la robe, quoique moins que le précédent tailleur violet, mais pas du tout l'ajout de la broche. J'y vois un déséquilibre avec les boucles d'oreilles.

I must be the only one but I really don´t like keyhole designs. The fabric of the dress is fabulous and the cut is great. Lovely soft colour combination on Queen Margarethe.

This is a beautiful look from QM. The dress is a perfect fit and length(she might have had it shortened looking at the model version) I love the rich dark blue as a background (rather than black)for the red print. Jewelry looks like it comes from one of the collections.
QM2 looks lovely in her lavender dress. Good to see shes recovered from her cold.
    Lowri.

They really don’t have much power as most modern royals, especially European ones, are just figureheads with no actual important decision making. That’s left up to the prime ministers and presidents.
