On January 19, 2026, Queen Camilla visited the National Library of Scotland in Edinburgh to mark the launch of the National Year of Reading in Scotland, led by the Department for Education and the National Literacy Trust. Queen Camilla met with ambassadors and supporters of the National Literacy Trust, including authors Sir Ian Rankin, Scottish crime writer Val McDermid, and poet Jackie Kay.
